Taxi companies talk so much but nothing been done to safe guard the drivers.... [mad]

Wonder did the taxi companies install emergency alert button on their fare meters.... -_-

With the GPS and the alert button activated, surely there would be other taxi drivers to help. Know only how to increase fare when fuel prices is up but not the safety of the drivers....

But the thing is taxi driver also human, there will be bound to have location that is very seldom go or new location which sometimes customer know better than taxi driver. Taxi driver cannot be 100% know every corner of Singapore map leh. So the passenger is too much for being such small issue and fed up with the driver and punch him. I mean just give taxi driver postal code or guide him the way can already ma.

At first, he was verbally abused.

Then the passenger punched Mr Michael Tan's back while he was driving his Comfort taxi.

When the 56-year-old cabby refused to continue driving and stopped on the Ayer Rajah Expressway near Normanton Park around 1am yesterday, the burly passenger rained blows on him before throwing him into a roadside bush.

The relentless attack stopped only when passing motorists sounded their horns.

In this incident, Mr Tan was not sure of the drop-off point and had irritated the passenger by asking for his postal code so that he could key in the destination on his Global Positioning System, and this triggered the attack.

Read the full report in The New Paper on Monday (April 1).

yeah, people cannot accept the fact that taxi drivers don't know the routes well but please remember like every trade, there is a always a new comer or rookie to the job. we can accept our own inadequacies if we are the rookie but yet these people canot accept they have been served by a rookie?
