Frankly if I have been chasing a customer for long overdue payment and he turned up in bags of 10 cents coin, I will also take it. Only a fool will not take it. I don't care how much is legal tender, etc.

It's still money.

Can still deposit in banks :)

Though just make sure that the carrier bag is sound, and you can carry all the way to the banks :))

there is charges on coin deposit, for $1000 of 5 cents and 10 cents, the charges can be alot <_<

i think number 1, 2, 3 & 5 are the same company [rolleyes][rolleyes]

For my case, better to take it even if it mean lesser. Better than getting nothing from the bloody customer.

Copy from somewhere....

Notes are legal tender up to their face value for paying any amount. Coins are messier. Maximum limits for legal tender are: $2 respectively for 20-cent, 10-cent, 5-cent and 1-cent coins; and $10 for 50-cent coins. There is no limit for $1 coins.

Next year then know. Skali Apple change name again [laugh] [laugh]

In Legalese....

3) Coins issued by the Authority, if the coins have not been illegally dealt with, shall be legal tender up to their face value in Singapore as follows:

(a)
in the case of coins of a denomination exceeding 50 cents — for the payment of any amount;
(b)
in the case of coins of a denomination of 50 cents — for the payment of an amount not exceeding $10; and
(c)
in the case of coins of a denomination lower than 50 cents — for the payment of an amount not exceeding $2.

If we refund you in coins and you don’t like it, then don’t take it.

This was what Mobile Air owner Jover Chew said.

A customer, Ms Zhou, who said that Mr Chew had scammed her demanded $1,010 in refund from him, but he gave her a bag of coins.

In the midst of the dispute, the bag dropped to the ground and while Ms Zhou had to pick up the coins, the staff at Mobile Air verbally bullied her.

The Police was called in but no action was taken.

Ms Zhou had gone to Mobile Air to buy an iPhone 6 Plus last month. She was charged $1,600 but the shop later wanted another $2,400 which it claimed was for two years of insurance. Ms Zhou eventually paid $3,000 for it.

She made a complaint to Consumers Association of Singapore the next day and the Small Claims Tribunal ruled that Mobile Air had to refund $1,010 to Ms Zhou, including an additional administrative fees of $10 collected by the Court.

When she went to collect her refund on October 28, she was given a bag of coins.

Ms Zhou, who was holidaying in Singapore has an aunt who is staying here, who also bought an iPhone for $3,000.

Mr Chew insisted that his shop staff took the actions they did because the pair were difficult customers.

When asked why his shop spiked up their prices so much, Mr Chew said that people who buy chicken rice from an expensive hotel should expect to pay more than if they bought it from a hawker centre.

He asked if by charging high prices, the hotel was involved in scam.

What kind of logic is he talking abt?

How can he compare his shop with that of an expensive hotel? His shop is definitely not worth !

Yup.

The price of hotel chicken rice is reflected in the menu, and we eat with our eyes open.

This fxxking Ah Beng, on the other hand, hid the final price under all sorts of excuses, and very likely also intimidated the customers into buying under duress.

This is the freaking difference, chao Ah Beng.
