Where there is a will (to punish) there is a way...

Makes you wonder how come action can't be taken against certain other recalcitrant dishonest groups...

fake-computer-parts.jpgSINGAPORE: A syndicate involved in the sales of counterfeit computer parts and mobile phone accessories was busted on Tuesday (Aug 4), said the Singapore Police Force (SPF).
An SPF news release said the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted simultaneous raids at Sim Lim Square and Jurong East, after which four men and two women were arrested. The suspects were aged between 19 and 33 years old.
SPF added that a total of about 25,200 pieces of trademark infringing computer parts such as laptop power adaptors, batteries, hard drives, DVD-ROMs, LCD screens and software, as well as mobile phone accessories like phone casings and power banks, were seized during the operation. The haul is believed to have an estimated street value of S$2,647,800.
Police said investigation into the case is ongoing. They added that those found guilty of selling or distributing infringing goods with falsely applied trademarks can be fined up to S$100,000, jailed up to five years, or both.

Just nice when the bill is passed not too long ago due to the public out cry on the jover chew case, it is put in use again.

Imagine that if not for public pressure on jover chew, I believe authorities and the government will still take it easy and let case do the middle man only. This furniture store would now still be bo dai ji as he is not classified under criminal offence.

And something not too right. I mean, government can take great step in clamping down on selling pirated software, games and electronic devices and the fine is heavy, but for consumer protection, they took donkey years to keep push off this topic and then to make people happy case is formed. Then case have no power only middle man per say, it is until public buay tahan lao and exert pressure to government to do something about it and Because they push government to a corner already due to public outcry then amend the ruling and give case more authorities to summon on those under blacklisted stores with many complaints.

Don't you all find it very funny meh. Why need to go through so painful step and public pressure then government willing to do action. Whereas come to big cooperation, all they need to do is open mouth, need protection for the products due to piracy on the rise, they quickly go do something about it. Weird isn't it?

No leh, government actually quite effective on that. It's been many years since I see that most of the electronic stores all sell original stuff already. It all stared many years back when police clamp down hard on pirated games and movie. Now where got place to buy pirated game and movie? Anyway also due to technology advancement. No need pirated movies as can stream free online, and for games, developer are using more advance technique that even if buy pirated CD also not being able to play because need Internet connection to connect to server.
