Actually all year round got people trying their luck. I'm pretty sure those caught were probably less than 10% of the total.

Or those who kena caught are the sacrificial fishes covering for the bigger fishes coming along the way..

Can't believe drug cartel can still find some naive country bumpkin 20yo to smuggle 294g of heroine into Singapore.

When you're young and desperate for cash, anything goes...

SINGAPORE - Drugs worth an estimated $86,000 were seized from a man riding a Malaysian-registered motorcycle at the Woodlands Checkpoint early Monday (April 25) morning, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a joint press release.

ICA officers had stopped the suspect, a 20-year-old Malaysian, upon his arrival at the checkpoint at around 5.20am.

About 460g of heroin was found in his bag and he was subsequently arrested.

The suspect was then referred to the CNB for further investigations, when officers recovered another 460g of heroin and about 120g of Ice from him.

Investigations are ongoing, ICA and CNB said.

They added that the Misuse of Drugs Act provides for the death penalty if the amount of diamorphine, or pure heroin, trafficked exceeds 15g -the equivalent of 1,250 straws that can feed the addiction of about 180 users for a week.

They might not even tell you it is heroine. If your friend ask you to bring a LV bag over, will you bring ?

I can't comment as I do not have such drug cartel friends. If we were friends he must be an a**hole to ask a friend to do something like this. This is why he got a nobody 20yo to do it. :D

Probably a decoy while the bigger fish follow behind.

Seriously, hundred of thousands of Malaysian bikes coming into Singapore daily, so easy to pick out a single rider without some heads up or tips?

Even looking at body language, also not easy among the sheer number of bikes..

If you rely on body language, I think you are more likely to catch one of those without 3/4 tank  [laugh]

Nah... this group do softies like ice or speed. If you are on heroin, it is pretty hard to still function at the level that is required in these professions.

Drugs worth more than $282,000 seized from lorry at Woodlands Checkpoint
AsiaOne, Tuesday, May 17, 2016

SINGAPORE - A haul of drugs worth more than $282,000 were seized by authorities, after an inspection of a lorry at Woodlands Checkpoint on Monday (May 16).

In a joint statement on Tuesday (May 17), the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said that a Malaysia-registered lorry was stopped for checks when it arrived at the checkpoint at about 4.50am.

The lorry had been carrying a consignment of pails and cans as well as shield anchors, but ICA officers also found drugs concealed in the compartment behind the lorry's passenger seat.

The drugs seized comprised about 2.78kg of heroin and 480g of 'Ice'.

Two Malaysian men, aged 33 and 27, were also arrested and subsequently referred to CNB.

According to the Misuse of Drugs Act, trafficking of more than 15g of pure heroin, which is enough to feed the addiction of 180 abusers for a week, is punishable by death. The Act also provides for the death penalty if the amount of methamphetamine trafficked exceeds 250g.
