reduced coe attracted buyers and 60days will hurt the dealers at the same timing. by right the gracing time should attract more buyers than the showroom.

not really understand what you mean exactly.

what i do know is that second hand car dealers are given a 60 days lifeline to clear their stock.

that is without the new restrictions of 50 to 60% downpayment and shortened repayment period

it is the AD who will get caught during this period, not the other way round.

those can afford will go for new cars even with the 50%

they will only consider 2nd hand if coe shoot up again.

at this time what do you think?

those who can afford will never be in the equation, and they probably belong to the category who never buy used cars.

it is the cash-strapped category that will be most impacted whether COE goes up or down.

with the new march ruling, they are effectively relegated to rent cars because of the 50% downpayment and shorter loan period.

but now with the 60 days grace, they can effectively buy a car with 100% loan repayment over 10 years.

of course, your concern will be more apparent if the COE prices dropped to a level making new cars much cheaper than used car.

but doubt that will happen within this grace period.

"Cash strapped"? Thought the public transport system was exactly made for such??!! Cash strapped and still own car? Then grumble that life is too tough and govt no good? Hmm...., think we should really really re-look at ourselves and our expectations!

They are desperate that they will adjust the mileage just to sell cars. And it's more often than before. So beware!

60 days not about COE but about need to put 40-50% deposit or full loan. for new cars, u still need to put deposit as this 60 days does not touch new cars.

dun think COE price affects second hand car.
