Hi Folks,

Planning a Road Trip around Gold Coast, Farm Stay at Lamington National Park...

Anyone care to share your experience? Also looking for Australia Map for PaPaGo GPS which I understand an alternative is to purchase in form of SD Card from the Local Agent.

Thanks... [sunny]

Navfree GPS Australia n NZ is a free app for iPhone, no need data network. I use it in Perth and it was quite accurate.

i used andriod igo primo during my road trip in gold coast and Brisbane last year.

Interesting places to visit, just to name a few.

Point Danger Light - Coolangatta - Drive there after you take your car at airport, its quite near to gold coast airport. can see whales playing if lucky.

Cape Byron Lighthouse - The road up to the lighthouse is WOW!!!!

Gold Coast Highway, Broadbeach Island, Broadbeach, QLD, 4218 - Casino. buy a drink inside the casino to get free parking, remember to give the parking coupon together with your drink payment.

I brought my kids to GC last July. Their age then were 2.5 and 4. GC is very children friendly. I brought them to Sea World and Movie world. I guess Sea World will be more entertaining for them. Most of the rides in Movie world are not suitable for their age but its a good experience for them to see the various movies characters. You can bring them to the Currumbin Wildlife, or take the Aquaduck ride (its actually duck tour)

Its also very easy to drive around. Much easier than in Singapore. Regarding GPS map, I just rent a 7 day Australia Map micro SD card from Garmin (I think its as 333 Shopping mall in Orchard) for a small fee (cheap so don't worry) and brought along my own Garmin GPS.

At the end of the day, take things easy and the pace there is damn slow. Its more of a relax place and enjoy Surfers Paradise

Deposit is $100 (will refund you back once you return the sd card). I think its around $20 plus if I am not wrong but you can call them up to check. Minimum rental days are I think 5 days. The whole process takes 10-15mins only.

I've been on a road trip in aussie last year. Flew to sydney and drove all e way to Melbourne. After that flew from Melbourne to gold coast and drove in gold coast and brisbane. What my wife and I did was to buy a pre paid sim card in sydney and insert into our samsung galaxy s3 to uwe e google map.

Buy a sim card with lots of data if your usage is high. If you rent a car in gold coast, remember to pay the toll fee by calling a number and give them ur credit card when u r leaving aussie. Unless you rent ur car from hertz or forgot e red colour brand rental coy, check with them that they can process e toll fee payment for you at a charge. [cool]
