Vicsaw Clutched May 1, 2013 Share May 1, 2013 Test driven both. Pick up: both around the same. Elantra has smoother pick up due to 6sp. Interior: Elantra wins hands down in terms of looks and quality. Altis too dated. Exterior: Elantra Specs: Elantra. Cruise Control. Dual climate aircon. Push Start. Keyless entry. 6 sp. Safety: Elantra. Traction control, 4 to 6 airbags. Perceived reliability: Altis. I used to own Avante for 4.5 years. No major problems execept wear and tear. My brakepads lasted 110K km. Spare parts: Both are cheap compared to Honda, Subaru.... FC: Both should be around the same. My avante has the same fc as Toyota Altis. Was given a replacement car for one week when my avante met with an accident. Handling: Definitely Elantra. Resale Value: Altis. However Elantra resale is not bad too. Value for money: Elantra. Branding: Definitely Toyota Altis. To someone who is not into cars, just buy the Altis. You cant go wrong with a Toyota. But if you like style and substance, get the Elantra. End of the day, go for a test drive.

Quantum 5th Gear May 1, 2013 Share May 1, 2013 My family own 3 cars, i drive elantra for work, wife drive Altis (2012) and 3rd car is an MPV. So i know which is the best chioce among 2. Take the Elantra,in term of appearance, engine, interior and perfomance. But downside is the price is consider quite high comparing to the japs. If u really want to choose a japs car, i would take Mazda 3, Altis is totally out of the league. no wonder every where traffic JAM
Tohto Hypersonic May 1, 2013 Share May 1, 2013 Elantra. Altis outdated design, old 4spd auto, 2 airbag only ......and MIT
Cheesepiekia 5th Gear May 1, 2013 Share May 1, 2013 Altis OMV lower less stuff and sell so expensive....... BM really high margin. Are you sure? Since when Corolla Altis OMV lower then Hyundai Elantra?
Hexxor 1st Gear May 1, 2013 Share May 1, 2013 Are you sure? Since when Corolla Altis OMV lower then Hyundai Elantra? sorry my mistake just that altis feels cheaper interiorly from the drive. Btw u do realised toyota prev had been charged with profit transfer..... ie move profit from other country to another with lower tax but declaring parts cost (inflated / lower) depending what they want to do. If i remember correct they transfer profit out of japan buy overinflating cost of component they export...... this was more than 10 years ago. 5936 1st Gear May 1, 2013 Share May 1, 2013 obviously my input for the Elantra was wrong.I had thought of AD bringing only the 'I' series. But, I still stand with Altis as the better choice.
Camrysfa Turbocharged May 1, 2013 Share May 1, 2013 Only their 1800cc is worth mentioning. U will never never see a Malaysian registered 1600cc altis. woh, u are so sure, can even say "never, never".......I just checked the Altis Msia website - they have 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0. Listed price diff btw 1.6/1.8/2.0 is 7K/19K. Got any poof that there is zero 1.6 Altis in the whole of Msia? Just curious, bro.
