is sufficient for city-driving lah.

 

unless you do frequent hard braking, eg. tracking, then disc brakes better for heat dissipation.

Now alot of buses switched to disc brake in front,peep into the lastest SBS/TIBS front wheel,you can see a very big disc & caliper...

you open up, most of them chui chui....

 

But, I like those retro bikes with rear drum brake pulled by some spring and rod connected. Good enough. No need to bother about brake fluid too.

Drums gets overheated very easily since there's no such things as vented drums. Some manufacturers offers fins on the drums to aid cooling, But such features are hardly seen these days as drums applications these days are strictly for cost cutting measures (and to rip customers off more) rather than genuine effort by the manufacturers to build a better brake system.

 

And when water gets into the drums (eg you drive through a flood)... its bye bye to your braking capability liao.

Suzuki Solios, Swift (except Swift Sports)

 

For Euro cars, I only rem the Ford Fiesta sporting rear drums.

 

Jazz 1.3 still on rear drums, only the 1.5 gets rear discs

 

And Vios E model too... complete joke these days...

curious since drum brake so many disadvantage, why so many Japanese still stick on Drum brake, and it's more complicate on structure and need more material, heavier
