Ommph Clutched May 28, 2013 Share May 28, 2013 Hi All, Need your advices for this issue. I have just purchased a 707 Compact instant water heater and a Grohe Shower Set. (Wanted to install gas water heater but strong opposition from mum...) After installation, i realised the water pressure is very low from the Grohe shower head. So i changed the shower head to the one that comes with the instant water heater. And the water pressure improved...at least when you put the shower head lying down, the water can go as high as 10cm but with the Grohe, the water is not even 5cm. I called up Heritage, where I bought the shower set from, they said it is my water pressure issue. After I had explained the change of shower head, they said the hole should be smaller in the original 707 shower head which is why the water spray is more powerful. I called up my contractor and he said it is because I am using instant water heater...... So..I am now very confused. Anyone can advise me on this??????? ↡ Advertisement

Yoongf 4th Gear May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 What u are facing is a common issue. There is nothing wrong with all the devices. Instant Water Heater operates at a relatively low flowrate, thus they always come with shower heads with tiny nozzles to give the expected spray effect. The low flowrate is designed purposely so that the water lingers long enough in the short heating coil to sufficiently heat up the water. The limiter is at the flow control valve. For those models with external control valve, just dun use the one that was supplied. By using a regular shower set which is designed for storage heaters, there is simply not enough water to jet out. I experimented by installing an instant heater after my solar heater because the solar heater takes a long time to get the hot water to the furthest toilet. I can get the flowrate up, but the water just doesn't heat up enough.
marwing 1st Gear May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 Bro, if you can, dismantle and connect the shower head tube to a tap without any heater on route. See the water pressure raw without heater. This is the intrinsic water pressure your apartment can give you. Water pressure factor are height of the apartment/house, level of the water tank on roof or centralied water storage. Instant heater reduces water pressure further due to reason stated by other forumer above.
Ommph Clutched May 29, 2013 Author Share May 29, 2013 [:)] Thanks for all the nice advices.. Seems like it is either I put up with low pressure or get another water heater that is the storage type. Any recommendation on storage water heater? My bathroom is small so I can only accomodate small size heater.
Fibo 4th Gear May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 Like many other, i started using instant water heater, and was not happy, with the reasons cited above. I switched to storage heater when i moved house. Ever since, no turning back. It is not worth the saving using instant water heater.

The grohe shops will tell u if using instant heater, don't need to buy any grohe stuff. Just stick to the original 707 shower head. if u bought from the same shop, the shop is not very professional...
