Small Tyres

Hi folks,

I just bought a small car recently and it came with Falken ZE322. These are relatively new with date code Dec 2011 and thread is still very thick.

When pumping air, I noticed that the rubber on the tyre valves for all 4 tyres have cracked. So I plan to change out all four tyres ASAP.

Need advice from bros here as I am not familiar with 14" tyres. This size seems to be very rare and there are not many choices available. btw, my ride's size is 185 60/R14

Went to check out SgCarstore and found the following tyres

1) Goodyear Assurance

2) Goodyear Duraplus

3) Nexen CP672

4) Pirelli P6

5) Dunlop EC201

6) Kumho Solus KH17

My last 3 sets of tyres are Hankook V8RS and K415, and Kumho KU37. I don't need sporty tyres, just reasonable grip on dry and wet will do. Something similar to K415 standard...

Budget below 100 per tyre. Avoid MIC if possible.

Thanks very much!

If you worry about cracking GY is out.

Read the thread on GY side walls cracking.

I always liked Pirelli from what I have seen

on their calendars. Never tried their tyres before.

Hypersonic

Bridgestone tyres are good.

AR10 and MY02 got yr size. Should be within yr budget, ask a few tyre shop. Try Kim Hoe at Autobay, Sally pricing very competitive.

My last set of Bridgestone was GR80, before their rapidly rising prices [sweatdrop]

Read a lot on these 2 brands and have heard more -ve than +ve.

I don't mind MY tyres but if they are prone to cracks then I better stay away [sweatdrop]

I am using XM1 on 175/65/14.

I find it a very good tyre with very low

rates of wear. I think Mich is the company

that discovered adding silica to rubber

prolongs the life of the tyre and reduces

friction.

Think should avoid Pirelli, my cousin used it previously and commented that the tyre will turn into round or balloon shape after using for awhile.

I think Bridgestone Turanza AR-10 should be quite decent.

Used it before previously so i will recommend it.

When I switched from Bridgestone to Hankook previously it was also because Hankooks have silica in their tyres as well.

Thanks

if possible try to upsize to 15" last time i also on 14" diffcult to find tyres.

oic. If my ride is newer, I may consider upsizing the rims. But since it only has a few years left, I will stick to 14s and keep the cost low. :D
