My family has 3 opels now

Astra-H, Zafira and the latest Insigna (Collected in Jan)

We also had the Vectra A and Vectra B... We also had the privilege of having use a Vectra C 2.2 for a very short while (not ours but its one of the best Vectra we ever drove)... Vectra A was our first car that was self imported from Germany haha, manual, super smooth and fast... after that all auto cos GM never bring in manual...

We suppose to buy the last corsa that was in sg then i went overseas for a while by the time i got back they took it off the shelves :(

We love our opels, will buy back Opel again if possible...

Nice meeting all of you

Why "Why"?

What's wrong with buying an Opel? At least it's more reliable than DSG. Look at how well Vauxhall is selling in UK.

Viewed the new meriva today and seriously considering it.
However I noted there there are v few Opel cars on the road.
Would general servicing beyond the agent workshop possible?
Also when there is a need for parts would there be stock or require long wait for shipment?
I can only afford one car so no spare in the family.

Went to see the Meriva too. My wife was drooling at the yellow Astra GTC in the showroom too! Tempted, but my Astra still has about 4 more years, so have to discipline myself!

Opel owners are a rare breed. However, their loyalty is rewarded with a great drive, and a less common car.

I personally haven't (3 Opels to date) had issues with parts and servicing. There is the current agent, the previous agent, and a no. of Opel specialists like CM etc.

Go for it!

Opel cars like Insignia, Zafira, etc looks good and seems pretty solid......but not cheap...if not mistaken could be more expensive than some of the VW models.....

To be frank, waiting for Opel parts could be a long wait. My Zafira Tourer was sandwiched between a taxi and a car late last year. The front was not too bad but the rear was hit hard and as I didn't think other repair shops could get the parts and do the works well, I decided to let Auto Germany, the distributor of Opel cars, do the repair works. The repair works was actually done by its associate firm First Auto Works. When third party insurance was cleared before Xmas in 2014, I was given a replacement car while Auto Germany ordered the parts for my car and the repairs started. But I have to wait for nearly four months before my car was repaired as the parts such as the bumper and in-built bicycle rack took a long while to arrive from Germany. Not sure, why the parts took so long to come. Anyway, just sharing my experience with the rest of the Opel drivers in Singapore. Cheers.
