Vicky_Wong Clutched February 12, 2014 Share February 12, 2014 I having been suffering from TMJ for like almost 10 years. It affects your neck, shoulder, your biting and eventually the shape of your face. After going to the NDC for 3 times over the last 10 years for X-ray, checkups, the result are always the same. They tell you nothing can be done, prescribed you with muscle relaxant and leave you hopelessly devasted! So i conclude going to the GPs or so-called specialists in the hospitals DONT WORK, so dont waste the time and money! I read about it, operation is not advisable unless have to cos it doesn't guarantee problem solved and may leave u with more problems later. My best advise, go for a trusted physio for alternative treatment. Not cheap about $160 per session. The therapist work on your facial muscles so that they wont be tighten. I find it effective and go only when i really need to. Other days, i will just massage and exercise the jaws myself. Its a long long battle.

Thought I suffered from tmj couple of weeks back after sore gum. Went for wisdom tooth extraction and the mouth could not open wide. 10 cm opening at first and it hurt badly. But day by day, the jaw widen slowly and now seems to recover fully already. Scary!!!

Vicky_Wong Clutched March 10, 2014 Share March 10, 2014 (edited) You sound like you have a teeth grinding problem resulting in the crack molar. Doctors will always asked u, "have you been very stressed lately?" Anyway, it depends if you have a budget. Based on my experience, cheapest way, go to a polyclinic to get a referral letter to National Dental Center. They will do the check and xray to check your jaw bone structure. Unless, it is very serious, operation is not recommended. They will usually prescribe you with muscle relaxant, tell you to relax more and send you home. If you havent had your wisdom tooth removed, you can schedule an appointment with them. Only surgical stuff can be claim by medisave. If you are pretty sure, its a muscle thingy. You may want to consider going to a physio. The one i went to cost about $160 for a session. I can tell a difference on the first session. You can try to see if it works for you. Holdenutessv Turbocharged March 10, 2014 Share March 10, 2014 Was thinking whether I have TMJ too... Jaws can't open wide as before and sometimes can hear clicking(?)/"tock" noise which seems to come out from my jaws.
Coltplussport Turbocharged March 10, 2014 Share March 10, 2014 If you search tmj online, you most probably come across singapore dental specialists website stating that they specializes In tmj treatment. But their location at Mt E and gleneagle look kind of expensive.

Shs123 Neutral Newbie November 3, 2016 Share November 3, 2016 Even after so many years the tmj didnt recover?? My was caused by doing braces at A Line Dental. I started having headaches and dizziness but didnt associate with braces. And then my jaw start cracking and popping when i open my mouth and when eating. N the left side started to become tight and i need to exert pressure to open my mouth. Also i can c my teetg alignment getting more and more slanted with each adjustment. I even start to have buzzing sound in my ear for 24/7. But everytime i see the A line dental Dr Tan he keep telling me will go away. The last straw is when my jaw starts trembling. Even then he told me its nothing but i ask him to maybe remove the braces or something. Which he did BUT i have no bite. My upper and lower teeth don come into contact properly and i cant eat properly. Zzzz.. Spending thousands for this and i dunno need spend how many more to rectify it. Thinking of gg to the specialist and so finding reviews.. so its useless?

Thinking of gg to the specialist and so finding reviews.. so its useless? The reason for your TMJ is the procedure of the braces require you to open your mouth so wide for a long time. I can very sure this triggered it. For me , this TMJ come on and off but I can still open my mouth wide just that it will click and hurt. I found something on the internet that C1 and C2 on your neck if not balance will cause this TMJ. I got adjusted as in neck cracking by a Chinese doctor, it seem to release the pain but I am not sure its C1 or C2 she cracked.
genesix32 Neutral Newbie April 21, 2022 Share April 21, 2022 I used to yawn without any control in the past which cause my jaw's "joint disc" to be dislocated and gradually over the years my muscle got more and more tight that I was desperate to find medical treatment. I stumbled on a chinese article on TMJ by a doctor from Zhao He Qing TCM Clinic I went to quan qi dao / normal tcm and their accupuncture did nothing, but this guy he zua my jaw joint I immediately feel the tension releasing, then got the machine send electric pulse ($40 per session) After a year of treatment, still have clicky jaw but no more muscle tension Anyone got recommendation for TMJ specialist? I really want to get rid of the clicking jaw ↡ Advertisement
