I have doubts over the quality of the items sold through taobao.

 

Ok for women accessories and clothing, but definitely not for health supplements or electronics.

Food is def out..

Every other things can go by rating and review.. so its quite transparent.

In anycase, most of the thing we buy here are from china..

Yes, but the warranty is here.

 

If an item bought from taobao is defective, I have no idea what is their return policy and who pays for the return.

 

For Amazon, at least I know Amazon will pay for the return shipping and resend. They will also return my money if I decide to return the item for good.

That's why they are setting up CS centre in sg.

Give the system 1 yr.. and these policy will be in place...

usually i cant be bother return policy etc..coz its too cheap to bother..

 

so far no issue on quality yet... even for big ticket items like leather office chairs

that i agree.. oversea has better consumer protection that sg.

Basically taobao and other big online portal, the seller are self-regulated because of the rating system.

If their failed to deliver their promise, they will get poor ratings.

 

So go for the best rating & high volume seller, then the cheapest, you shld not go wrong.

 

The review also contains information such as how much the goods differ the desciption and pic. ;)
