Darthrevan Supercharged October 17, 2013 Author Share October 17, 2013 14 of 16 workers injured are out of hospital Of the 16 workers injured in Wednesday night's accident on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) between a lorry and a car, 14 of them have been discharged with minor injuries, said their employer. One worker is still warded for observation at Alexandra Hospital while another is at National University Hospital (NUH), said Hypex Engineering and Services' operations manager Ng Cheow Teck. They are under observation for a head injury and back pain respectively, he added. The accident, which happened shortly before 9pm Wednesday before the Jurong Town Hall exit in the direction of the city, occurred when a black car rear-ended the lorry, said Mr Ng. The police confirmed that the driver of the car, a 44-year-old Singaporean man, has been arrested for drink-driving. The Singapore Civil Defence Force subsequently sent fourteen of the injured workers to Alexandra Hospital, while another four workers were taken to NUH. "A car collided with the rear bottom right side of the truck, and caused it to lose control, skid and turn over from the third lane to the first lane," said the 25-year-old operations manager. He added that the lorry had a canopy and that no workers were flung out of the lorry. The company has lodged a police report.
