A 16-year-old girl was found dead Thursday in a Tampines flat and police have classified it as a murder case.

Police said that a 28-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident. Investigations are ongoing.

The Straits Times reported that the girl apparently had two stab wounds to the front of the torso area and that the woman who was arrested was understood to be the maid.

A female neighbor that spoke to the broadsheet said that shrieks were heard coming from the flat at 856B Tampines Street 82 at around 12pm.

A spokesperson from the Singapore Civil Defence Force said that they received a call for assistance at 1pm. Upon arrival, paramedics pronounced the female individual dead at the scene.

Seems like the maid is the victim of torture.......why can't it be that the victim found out some insidious secret of the maid and she threaten to tell her parents. So in order for to keep it secret..the maid kill her ....

But some maids just have mental problem that surfaces later. Or some of these problems are covered up by their agencies.

 

It could be minor issue like obsessive compulsive disorder, things that can grow worse with no treatment, like depression, or even more serious issues like schizo or bipolar.

 

Hiring maid is always pretty much like a lottery whether you can get a good maid or not.

If the maids come from backward villages and they haven't even seen an iron, coffeemaker, fridge, washing machines etc before they arrive here, plus the cultural shocks, new surroundings, new languages, new food, away from home, indebtedness, homesickness, etc etc, the pressures on them is quite unimaginable!!

 

Worse still, if the employers are demanding, not understanding, fierce, bullies, etc maybe if you and I were in the shoes of these maids, we will also suffer mental breakdown and do silly things

Yeah, especially cages that can take you up and down heaven and hell, walls that can spill $$$ out, water flowing out from concrete walls like waterfall........

 

It's a common sight to us, but to a someone from countryside, it's quite unimaginable.
