Could have approximately 220 HP (161 kW)

The 2014 Audi S1 has been spied virtually undisguised.

Caught undergoing testing at night, the S1 features an aggressive front bumper and a stylish rear diffuser which is flanked by a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system. Since the S1 will likely be introduced alongside the facelifted A1, the model has also been equipped with a new head- and taillights.

Audi has been relatively quiet about specifications but previous reports have indicated the S1 could have a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops approximately 220 HP (161 kW). It will presumably be offered with automatic and manual transmissions that are connected to a quattro all-wheel drive system.

The 2014 Audi A1 and S1 could be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show, so expect to learn more in the coming months.

It seems that our prayers have been answered. Audi will unveil a souped up version of the A1 hatchback - the S1 - at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

It seems that Audi has finally pulled the trigger on the S1 - a hotter, souped up variant of the A1 hatchback that many have been keenly waiting for.

The A1 Quattro has a proper six-speed manual gearbox that transfers power to a Haldex all-wheel drive setup
A few years ago, Audi proved what the small hatchback is capable of - equipping it with 500 strong horses and the legendary quattro all-wheel drive system - calling it the A1 Clubsport Quattro.

Later on, it unveiled a more 'sensible' A1 Quattro that is packed with a 252bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit from the S3 and puts it for limited production.

Judging from various spyshots, U.K. motoring publication Auto Express claims that they have everything to believe that the S1 will be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

The new car is expected to receive almost as much power as the limited edition A1 Quattro, with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine detuned to churn out figures in the region of 230 horses.

Turbocharged

Prob just me but the A1 just look too "tall" and snug lengthwise to be a headturner. I'm sure it drives very well but the look is a bit unconventional.
