Wage increment

depends on company

my experience:

Govt & MNC: 3-5% confirmed (non-negotiable)

SME: 0% if market is bad. 10% to 30% if shortage of staff and you threaten to leave. Sometimes can even get yearly promotion if company is really desperate to retain people

actually if you decided to leave and submitted your resignation letter, you must never turn back no matter what promotion/increment the company counter offer you.

trust me...this is speaking from experience

of coz before you type that resignation letter, must first talk to boss about promotion and increment first if you think you deserve it.

if your boss say no to promotion or increment, then when you give letter to him also easy to explain.

like my ex-GM say to me if a baby never cry, that baby will never get the milk.

seems like u r a good manager. i just changed job recently coz i cant stand my new boss attitude for the past 1 year. when issue happen he blames others but not himself. he even keep telling me to leave if i cant fit into his organization. one word he always remind me since he on board, " no one is indispensible"...haha u remind me of him..

By the way i am glad to leave semicon industry which i 've been doing so for the past 15 years. but is becoz of him which lead me to my new better job now...i even treated him lunch with golden hand shake..

1. Your boss from Fab7? hhehe

2. Which line you switch to?

I've been in Semicon for the past 13yrs. Honestly, it's not the challenges that's upsetting, it's the lack of good managers.

Many times even you talk to boss about promotion or increment, the boss usually will tell you it is the company salary structure and operation that can only pay you this much.

c-group aka ceo, cfo, coo, president, vice-president, etc must be paid highest with millions in bonuses

must paid highest else cannot attract talent

lower administratives and executives that are doing the hardwork paid peanuts because they are cost center

this is top agenda in any board meeting remuneration commitee

top are talent ... lower are worrying escalating cost

it is whether you are in the closed door meeting or outside

lehman might collapse ... jp may lose billions ... but top take home hundreds of millions in bonuses and exit package
