After 18 long years, there finally is a new Proton Perdana to replace the 1995 model based on the Galant.

This time they are using a 8th gen Honda Accord platform:

The initial production is only for government use. When the production model comes out, it'll be a good chance for Malaysians to own an Accord at a discount. Doubt it'll ever come to Singapore though, come here become same price as real Accord.

sibei xia sui ... if lotus can at least develop Gen2 (alto does not look great but not too shabby compare to the same year models from kia/hyundai)

why cannot develop a new perdana ...

even kia/hyundai had moved on to K3/K5 and i40 ... looks up-to-date

So, proton wanted to overtake gm in rebadge king title?... That's why I always say perodua is a better coy than proton....

Proton going to become OEM already... the Inspira is a Lancer, Perdana is an Accord and the upcoming city car is a Honda Brio.

Perodua has always been a OEM. All its models have Daihatsu equivalents. Considering that Daihatsu is now a Toyota subsidiary, there's no harm in it. Malaysians get to buy a Toyota Passo at Perodua price, why not?

Actually as long as price is right, its ok. CMI image, but have Honda engine, why not.?

Driver's skill at large has not increased in tandem with the increase in performance of the cars.

Eg, I rather instaed of 120hp/150nm....125/155,.....130/160.....

I rather Bnb at least stays 120/150 but......focus on improvements towards FC, maintenance intervals....simplifying manufacturing & control/ lower cost.

Just like what Honda is doing for their BnB bikes even for larger capacity models.

Impovements in hp/torque is largely academic & sales pitching for most drivers.

But in SG for cars, then harder to accept as bleed through the nose. Must start to nit pick. .....principle of the matter....

Simple, just buy the right from the company & just rebadge it. But people will confuse with the Accord CP1 & the perdana 8th gen.

is that going to be his official car around Putra?

damn, he must be cursing under his breath at Dr. M

and secretly yearning for a beemer or merc [sly]

I read this paragraph with interest about the launch of the new Perdana

"The mass market car will continue to use this shared platform, but will have a completely new exterior and interior, according to Proton executive chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil. As for this short term solution, it was developed in eight months."

Wonder what took them so long just to rebadge ......
