Go and read the spec, the link is already posted. It's dual Sim phone. One slot support 3G and the other support only 2G. Those say only support 2g probably insert their Sim card to the 2G slot.

not really. i thought the 3g sim card slot is for CDMA. Then the 2g slot is for GSM which is unfortunately what we use...

1 WCDMA slot for 3G data and 1 GSM slot for 2G data

For 3G data, it's WCDMA... GSM can only support up to 2G (2.5G). Our telco support both.

So, we just have to slot it in the WCDMA slot if we want 3G.

Our telcos support CDMA? Thought only GSM?

I recall 1 telco used to support CDMA but they canned it shortly after.

Is CDMA different from WCDMA?

Go to your phone setting network mode. Is it able to set to 3 options?

Set to WCMDA, and you will only use 3G.

Set to GSM, and you'll see your data stuck at 2G (GPRS,EDGE)

set to Auto, and it'll switch between WCDMA and GSM automatically, depending on signal strength.

If your phone behave as above like with my S3, there you have it, WCDMA is 3G in singapore, or singtel in my case.

Thanks. Now I know WCDMA is 3G GSM.

I haven't toggled with the 3G settings before. Been using 4G as it is out of the box.

Just a correction, there's no 3G GSM.. GSM is only 2G..

Woot. Was planning to get one since last year. My friend working in China told me is quite good. Might buy a couple to play with.

I'm not too worried about the absence of LTE. Sometimes i switch to 3G because the 4G network is too slow esp in city areas during weekends.

It has it's own MI User Interface or MIUI for short... very similar to andriod.... so no worries on that

Does it have playstore? Understand some android china phone do not have them, got to install ourselves.

Not too sure. but i think the 3 major telco will sell. This xiaomi can up their market share...

You all didn't go to the link provided? Redmi will be on sale online via their website on 21st feb. There' no mentioned on telco tied up yet.
