Courteous Road Users.

Often we have seen road users complain about terrible road users and there are countless videos on youtube that depict the horrors of Singapore road.

But how many times have you encountered road users who raised his left hand to signal a "thanks" after you slowed down a little to let him filter in your lane or allow them to enter the expressway? They did their part by signalling early.

I believe in what goes around comes around, eventually others will give you way if you need it eventually.

Just a night rant. :) Age is catching up. Unable to sleep much at night. :(

i wave to say thanks sometimes. But today's modern cars' windows are quite tinted, i wonder if the other driver can really see it?? [sweatdrop] Its too short a time to wind down the window to wave, maybe LTA should allowed LED lights/words saying the same for us to the other drivers?!

Courteuos road users are good drivers. They follow the rules and instructions.

I think a good driver is one who drives defensively and avoids getting into accidents. [drivingcar]

Neutral Newbie

I agree it is important to be courteous on the roads, especially when communication is severely limited with each driver within his/her car.

I too, wave to thank, and apologise, when I cause some inconvenience.

But can the driver behind me really see beyond the many tinted windshields?

I still do that nevertheless, so that I myself can fee better.. :)

I wave to ppl who give way to me. But whether other do the same to me when I give way to them? I don't care.

Likewise if some cork drive like an idiot and endanger me, i will sound my horn and middle finger will fly up.

when people give way to me, i usually use the hazzard lights and let it blink twice to indicate "thank you"

but when i was the one doing the giving way, no body, so far, has ever waved or signaled to say thanks.

for those that gave way but was not appreciated, probably we have not met. [wave] .... [laugh]

[thumbsup]

Anyway, when people hot, more will come to rant, rather than being let into a Q, which some might think it's their "right" since they already signaled. I'll just either flash hazard twice or wave hands.. No harm.. If he didn't see, at least I also feel better.

very rarely received a wave of thanks when giving way to others especially on expressways..the most memorable I'd experienced was last week when 4 cars contiguously waving thanks to me after I stopped before a yellow box junction to allow them to pass

I even wave my thanks at drivers who stop before yellow boxes to allow me into a congested major road. [:p] Some friends remarked that I should just show my finger at those who doesn't instead.

I always tell them, its a just small gesture of appreciation that goes a long way... it may just lighten them up and quite possibly, enjoy the rest of their drive pleasantly in a considerate and forgiving mood, which is good for everybody.
