7hm Turbocharged February 20, 2016 Share February 20, 2016 don't think it's a good idea to do it even if that works. Airfryer is really good at 'frying' frozen items like chicken nuggets or those CP mexican wings, no need to defrost. Honestly though after using mine all these years I have come to view it as a "turbo oven". It is 33% faster than an oven and produces somewhat similar results, but only half as fast as oil-frying. Of course if you are talking about making fresh frozen meat, not those package types, yes, should defrost. I ever made a swee swee steak in the thing, but since the basket is so small I could only do one steak at a time...
Warmsnowman 1st Gear May 21, 2016 Share May 21, 2016 Washing the fryer net is a chore. Any good tips? Need to soak in hot water and maybe use coconut husk brush to scrub it off. Usually placed aluminium foil to avoid staining the net.

I guess can treat it as a convection oven, so I guess recipe using convection oven should work ba. Plus minus the temperature and duration to experiment.

If I cook longer, will I be wasting a lot of electricity?
zipping Supersonic August 28, 2017 Share August 28, 2017 (edited) Hi all, I just got a used air fryer by Mayer from a friend. I need tips on how to cook the following food, as in settings in the time and temperature : - Fries 20mins (will swirl them 1-2x) - Nuggets 10mins ea side - Hashbrowns 10min ea side - Seaweed chicken 20mins (will flip them 1-2x) - Pizza nvr try b4, i cook mine in microwave oven - Roti Prata nvr try b4 - Chicken fillet see seaweed chicken - Fish fingers outcome too dry, not recommended - Salmon Fillet Nvr try b4 - Beef steak Nvr try b4 - Lamb shank Nvr try b4 - Prawns Nvr try b4 - Crab sticks Nvr try b4 - Chicken wings see seaweed chicken (e wings must be those frozen ones or pre-processed ones, fresh wings not recommended) And is it good to wash the pan after every usage? I'm lazy so i oni wash e top part...e oil sink once in a while...lol Anyway a point to note is air-fryer best use on pre-prepared or process food as there is 'oil' in e food to facilitate cooking, if u use fresh food, it will come out too dry unless u apply a layer of oil onto them, but even so it most likely will come out too dry also. Temp i seldom chg, all 200 deg. my 2 cents.. Thats how i use my air-fryer... Edited August 28, 2017 by zipping
DACH Supersonic August 28, 2017 Share August 28, 2017 Thats how i use my air-fryer... Thanks for the input. Do you incur higher electricity bills after using the air fryer? It seems that I have to cook longer in order to get the food cooked. Cooked raw fries for 15 mins but seems doesn't even feel crispy and some fries only the surface is very hot... Yes, it does take longer. But not much mess n veri easi cooking. For fries, i cook 20 mins, but u need to swirl/flip (whatever) them to even out e cookin on e fries. Also u cannot put too much fries. ( for me a 1kg pack of fries need 3-4 rds of cooking)

Kb27 Supersonic August 28, 2017 Share August 28, 2017 I guess fries would taste much better when deep fried. My air fryer is now another occupant on the unused appliance shelf. The appliances I used regularly is a pressure/slow electric cooker, Samsung 3-in-1 microwave/grill/convection oven and my favourite has to be the induction cooker. ↡ Advertisement
