Keith,

i cant believe VW can produce such kind of unreliable quality, if you do not mind taking two stupid questions:

1. did u rev the car too hard and too often.

2. Did you hear any of your VW friends having similar problems ?

I have never owned a VW but jus curious.

And thanks for sharing.

I agree , buy Toyota for peace of mind.

It will be a good idea to see all Japanese cars except Mitsubishi and Nissan.

The one at leng kee below Nissan may be considered, judging from its price now.

it is been a while since this thread is active. just an update, car is in workshop with a failed supercharger and a failing turbo.. looks like this thread will come to an end soon,

looking to replace the car now...any good options

Seems horrible.

Makes old saying of turbo not reliable bloody true....

1. No. The chief tester says I pussy the pedal too soft. Recommend to step harder during pickup

2. Not for my case where both boost fail at the same time. Usually turbo is the first to go

You will be spending on petrol that's for sure. A number of Subaru models are assembled in M'sia. Are you sure it's jdm?

Rather spend money on petrol while using time to do what you like than drinking VCS coffee and food.

Malaysian factory for local sales and ASEAN(excluding Singapore)

So no mim here.

Would you consider a new Japanese 2.0 c segment (i.e almost same size as Jetta)?

Should be lesser than price of Jetta that you paid. The 2.0L one below TC Nissan showroom cost lesser than 104.000 and the neighbouring showroom sells its version for 110800 (The best selling car in Singapore 2017)

ya.....

Have you tested these cars?

For what I feel, the dashboard of the Toyota is slightly outdated IMHO...and I prefer the underdogs more than the main 3.

Honda civic is good, but safety is a letdown.

The Nissan...will disappoint you in everything except potential reliability and comfort

Will this suit you?

actually, i was looking at the levorg, but none selling used.

so, i have some initial quotes after reviewing my turbo and super charger,

repair turbo, in the region of 1800

replace supercharger - 2200

total 4K without any intercooler and water pump,

i know that water pump is 900, and intercooler might be 1k. hence bringing the tally to 6K.

Maybe not that car(old, slightly outdated)

Just bear with the xv or sth and save 30k for investment

You may want to consider new car since your are prepared to spend a 100k. Civic turbo may be a viable option since you are used to the power of turbo engine. On your two mentioned options, MB will have a nicer ride and drivability than Altis especially the B180 comes with small turbo charger to give a little boost. but i would say both brands are reliable. And the repair and parts cost of both MB and Altis are not expensive. Edited by Ct3833

Well. Received the quote from vcs. I must say that the service manager has helped a lot. Kudos to him. However, I will be deregistering the car due to repair cost.

Toyota is well known for it's reliability ... I guess after your experience with VW, Toyota may be a ideal choice now.

Just my personal opinion regarding the B class ....

- No pick up, drive like a pickup, horrid gear change

- Between A and B Class, I would rather go for A is space is not an issue

- Your Jetta drive better compared to the B

- Maintenance cost will be high for Merc

Jetta is nice car for the price. Just too bad with the issue with the dry clutch.

For sub 100k, I would consider the XV .... the new FL is nice.
