Hey guys, my car been having knocking issue and so far two workshops are unable to solve my problem despite having changed quite a number of parts already. I understand that AD usually charge a premium price but is it advisable to go back to them since they are specialised with it? Thanks.

As in engine knocking issue? Have any of the workshops done any diagnostic test? To make sure there are no error codes. Like eg. air/fuel sensor faulty or some other thing. So that you can be sure it's carbon build up that's causing the knocking.

Actually there are some things you are able to try on your own first.

- use higher grade of pterol dan you are currently using.

- do an engine flush.

If the above do not work for your car dan do an engine overhaul or a less tedious way will be something like this http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/writeup.php?AID=164&PN=1

AD do not necessarily "specialise" in the cars they handle. You may not know what kind of cheap labour they hire to repair your car. Those self-claim "specialist" you better becareful too. You are better off getting recommendations from other same car owners.

No harm going back to AD for diagnosis but give strict instruction not to commerce repairs on anything costing more than X bucks. Best of both worlds. AD has better equipment but there are some outside workshop with better skilled mechanics charging at 1/2 price.

Let use know yr engine is using timing chain or belt . If it's belt chances due to wear and tear the belt may have "jump" one or few teeth resulting in either too advance or too late initial timing.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Sorry if i misinterpreted my issue wrongly. Im driving a Mazda 2. The knocking is not from my engine but from my passenger wheel area most of the time when i go over humps or bumps on road. Driver side only knocks recently after i did my wheel alignment each time when i full lock my car while reversing in to car park.

So far for the past few months i have changed the following respectively;

- Shock absorbers and mountings.

- ARB endlinks

- ARB bushings

- LCAs

- Front wheel bearings

Initially i suspected tie rods but the mechanics said they are fine.

I thought of going back to AD see if they could solve my problem since they carry OEM parts for my car.

Register a new nick just to seek help here but Mia ever since... Hehehe...

In that case, go to AD to check and have a peace of mind of what going wrong

After which, enjoy your ride especially in NSHW

Thanks bro.

Hopefully AD wont charge me unnecessarily. [sweatdrop]

Hi Bro, did your mechanic check your brake system? I have the same problem as u, when reversing or full lock, there is tok sound. Maybe u ask your mechanic to check your brake calliper, could be the problem. Mine case they just do some servicing and tighten some of the nut, so far after 3 month , there is no more sound. Hope it help.

Hey bro, they did not check the brake caliper. I didnt know that the caliper will make noise when the steering on full lock. For my case, sometimes it will make a very loud single "tok" sound when full lock.

I will note down this when i go to AD tomorrow.

Thanks for info. :)

I trust AD only. Once I had a problem going from one ws to another and all say different issues. Finally went AD. The mechanic without doing anything except lifting up my car and said change that one tyre and problem solved at no cost.
