Not only stupid, violent also .... [sweatdrop]

Yahoo news: Khairy condemns unruly Malaysians, offers apology to Vietnamese fans

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has hit out at local football fans who attacked Vietnamese fans during last night's AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final at the Shah Alam Stadium, and offered his apology to Vietnamese supporters.

"These violent fans do not represent Malaysia. My sincere apologies on behalf of Malaysia for the actions of these small number of irresponsible thugs," he said on his Facebook page.

"No excuse for such violence. Especially against guests in our country. Is this how we treat guests? It doesn't matter whether they are visitors or workers here, this is not Malaysian culture," said an irate Khairy.

Vietnam defeated Harimau Malaya 2-1 in the first leg of the semi-final. The two teams will play the second leg in Hanoi on Thursday.

It was reported that towards the end of the match, a section of the Malaysian supporters started throwing plastic bottles at the

Vietnamese fans, and both sides were embroiled in violence.

Khairy said he was waiting for a report on the incident from the police and the Football Association of Malaysia, but added that he had witnessed how a section of Malaysian fans turned unruly.

"These irresponsible people don't think what would happen to our fans when we play in Hanoi, Vietnam, for the second leg," he said.

Last week, Asian Football Confederation slapped a US$10,000 (RM34,000) fine on FAM for misbehaviour of Malaysians fans during a friendly with the Philippines in March at the Selayang Stadium. – December 8, 2014

Some updates on the search for the MH370...

SYDNEY: A fourth ship with enhanced search capabilities has been commissioned to join the underwater hunt for missing flight MH370, Australian authorities said Wednesday (Jan 14), with 14,000sq km of the sea floor scoured so far.

The Fugro Supporter is set to join fellow ships Fugro Equator and Fugro Discovery in the remote search zone in the southern Indian Ocean, where officials believe the Malaysia Airlines aircraft carrying 239 people might have crashed.

The jet disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on Mar 8 and no sign of it has been found despite a massive air and sea operation. "(The Fugro Supporter) is equipped with an autonomous underwater vehicle," spokesman Daniel O'Malley of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, which is leading the search, told AFP. "That will be used to scan the portions of the search area that can't be searched effectively by the equipment on the other search vessels."

The Supporter is due to join the hunt far off western Australia in late January. Along with the Equator and Discovery, the Supporter has been provided by Dutch company Fugro and jointly funded by the Australian and Malaysian governments. GO Phoenix is contracted by the Malaysian government.

If there are no delays, the current search is expected to be completed in May. About 208,000sq km of ocean has been mapped. Australia has been spearheading the hunt for the plane, a dauntingly vast task that has been beset by false leads and initial confusion - to the continued frustration of grieving relatives, mostly from China.

I fear this plane may never be found cos from what I read, that part of the ocean is one of the harshest places in the world with depths of greater than 6,000m compared to the recent Air Asia crash into the Java Sea of just 40m deep.

And also wondering how on earth it ended there which remains one of aviation's greatest mysteries to date. RIP to all on MH370.

Bro Spring,

If MH370 really crashed into Indian Ocean [dizzy]

Qn) Why there are no floating evidences such as oil or non-metal debris [confused]

Qn) Why Boleh Land gahment never make any national airliner air disaster announcement in the first 12 hours of accident [confused]

There must be some sort of [jawdrop] " hidden agenda " which is very sensitive for the public [:/]

Bro 2BDriver, yes there are alot of conspiracy theories circulating n what you say are some of the questions being asked. It sure is strange why no debris have this been found and can't imagine what the families are going through as there is no closure for them unfortunately.

All I can hope for them is that some breakthrough comes soon to get closure for everyone and put an end to all the theories once and for all so that all parties may get their answers and make aviation safer for the future.

Why Singapore never send its navy to help in the search.

Already got proven capability i.e. finding the Air Asia plane.

I believe you are among those who never follow news. Btw the ops phase is on seek n recovery instead of search n rescue. It's mean long term ops.

Like the France Airline that went missing for 2 years, I guess the MH370 will also be found one day. Unless someone doesn't want it to be.

It does not say why the govt wants to strike out the suit.

On the other hand, how to sue when there not a shred of evidence on whereabouts of MH370.

http://eng.mynewshub.cc/2015/01/16/govt-files-application-to-strike-out-suit-by-mh370-passenger-children/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Mynewshub-English+%28MyNewsHub+-+English%29

KUALA LUMPUR – The Government of Malaysia will file an application to strike out a suit filed by two sons of a passenger on MAS Flight MH370 which has had to be traced since going missing on March 8 last year.

Senior Federal Counsel Kamal Azira Hassan told this to reporters after the case was mentioned in the chambers of Judge Datuk Rosnaini Saub.

“We have yet to file the application to strike out the suit but have informed the court on the matter,” said Kamal Azira.

Kamal Azira said the court had set Feb 17 for case management. The government filed its defence statement last month.

The proceedings today was also attended by counsel Datuk Dr S. Arunan, representing the two brothers as plaintiffs.

  • On Oct 31, the two brothers aged 12 and 14 years through their mother, Ng Pearl Ming, 39, filed the suit and named Malaysian Airlines System Berhad (MAS), Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) director-general, Immigration Department director-general, Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) chief and the government of Malaysia as defendants.

  • In their statement of claim, the brothers alleged that their father, Jee Jing Hang, 41, a passenger of MH370 aircraft, had entered into a flight contract agreement with MAS on their flight from Kuala Lumpur at 12.41 midnight and was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30 am on March 8.

The plaintiffs alleged that through the agreement, MAS as the first defendant should have taken all necessary steps to ensure the flight was safe but had breached the agreement when it failed to land in Beijing and there were no details on the last moments of the plane till today.

Apart from that, the plaintiffs also named the DCA director-general as the second defendant as the party responsible for air traffic control to ensure the flight was safe, but failed to take adequate measures to communicate and track the flight with radar.

The brothers also claimed that the Immigration Department had failed and was negligent in conducting detailed inspections on the aircraft’s passengers who boarded the plane using forged identification.

  • They also alleged TUDM had failed and was negligent in scrambling a plane to identify an unscheduled aircraft appearing in TUDM’s radar system (on March 8) which could have been the MH370 aircraft.

Both plantiffs among others are claiming compensation from all defendants on the loss of their father who was a businessman with a monthly income of RM16,865 and additional compensation for the suffering endured by them.

Families furious after Malaysia declares all on board MH370 dead

On Thursday (Jan 29), Malaysia formally declared the passengers and crew of missing flight MH370 to be presumed dead.

According to AFP AsiaOne, it was a step that it said opens the door for compensation payments but which was angrily rejected by distraught relatives.

Malaysian authorities and the airline had until now refrained from drawing firm conclusions about the fate of the plane and its 239 passengers and crew, as many desperate next-of-kin continue to insist it may have landed safely somewhere.

But Thursday's declaration that MH370 was an "accident" was essentially a formal announcement that the plane had indeed crashed somewhere after its disappearance on March 8 and that all aboard had perished.

"It is therefore, with the heaviest heart and deepest sorrow that, on behalf of the government of Malaysia, we officially declare Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 an accident," civil aviation chief Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said in a televised announcement.

"All 239 of the passengers and crew on board MH370 are presumed to have lost their lives," he added.

Urging relatives to move forward, he said it was "important that families try to resume normal lives".

Malaysia Airlines later said it would begin contacting families to proceed with a "fair and reasonable" compensation process.

But Sarah Bajc, whose partner Philip Wood was on board the plane, was one of several relatives who poured scorn on the announcement.

"I think they are lying," she said of the Malaysian government and airline.

"It could very well be that the plane crashed. But there is no evidence, and until there is evidence we just can't believe them. It is impossible to bring any closure until we have proof."

Many relatives have consistently accused Malaysia's authoritarian government and its flag carrier of a chaotic and bungled response to the plane's initial diversion that allowed the jet to disappear, and a subsequent cover-up.

Those charges are strenuously denied.

The plane vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in one of history's great aviation mysteries.

Malaysia's government says satellite data indicates the plane inexplicably detoured to the remote southern Indian Ocean, which they suspect was due to "deliberate" action onboard.

But no evidence has turned up as to the fate of the plane, despite an ongoing Australian-led search of the supposed crash region -- the most expensive search and rescue operation in history.

The government's awkward handling of Thursday's announcement also angered relatives, who have accused authorities and the airline of insensitivity in the past, and drew harsh criticism on social media.

A hastily scheduled press conference to announce the news was abruptly abandoned earlier Thursday after several family members rushed to the venue demanding to know why they were not briefed ahead of the public announcement.

The government later said separate arrangements had been made to communicate with kin, but relatives who spoke to AFP said they had not been contacted.

Elaine Chew, whose husband Tan Size Hiang was on the missing flight, said Malaysia's declaration is a blow to suffering families.

"I have a six-year-old daughter. I have told her that her father is missing. She wants him back for her birthday on March 14. How do I explain this to a six-year-old girl, all of a sudden?" she said.

http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/mh370-chinese-families-plan-sit-in-protest-at-mas-office

Published: 12 February 2015 6:26 AM

Kelly Wen, wife of Chinese passenger Li who was on board MH370, in Kuala Lumpur on January 29 when the flight was lost in an accident. Wen is with a group of Chinese families who arrived in Kuala Lumpur early today threatening a sit-in protest at the Malaysia Airlines office over the declaration.

Family members of several Chinese passengers on board missing flight MH370 arrived in Kuala Lumpur early today threatening a sit-in protest at the Malaysia Airlines office, rejecting the declaration that the aircraft with 239 passengers and crew members was lost in an accident.

The 15 family members also expressed hope in meeting with Malaysia Airlines CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya and the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) to get some answers on their rationale in declaring that the disappearance of the Boeing jetliner was due to an accident.

Wearing red and white T-shirts with the words "Pray for MH370", the group also carried placards with messages like "MH370 cry for truth. Today it's us, tomorrow it could be you" and "MH370: Who can tell us what happened? Please help us! Come back MH370".

They are also prepared to spend Chinese New Year in Malaysia unless their demands were met.

"We will try to meet with the management of MAS," said Kelly Wen, the wife of Chinese passenger Li who was on board the ill-fated flight.

"We want to know why MH370 was declared lost in an accident and on what basis was that decision made," she said at the arrival hall of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport early today.

The families, she said, also wanted an update on the investigations into MH370's disappearance as well as the Immarsat data which was used to determine that the aircraft ended its flight in the southern end of the Indian Ocean.

It is understood more Chinese family members will arrive later today to join the sit-in protest.

There are also plans to meet with Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak if they failed to meet or get satisfactory answers from MAS and DCA.

Retiree Wen Wan Cheng denounced the declaration, saying that it was "illogical".

"Despite investigations into the disappearance of the plane, we have yet to see any concrete results. We hope the authorities can probe into the missing plane again," he said.

Wen, 63, whose son Yung Sheng was on board the ill-fated flight, also blamed the Chinese government, which he claimed was not being transparent and supportive of the next-of-kin.

After more than 10 months, Malaysia had declared that flight MH370 was lost in an accident, killing all 239 passengers and crew members on board.

The declaration was made in accordance with the Standards of Annexes 12 and 13 to the Chicago Convention, taking into account the circumstances and the available data.

Annexe 13 states that the definition of the term “accident” includes “the aircraft is missing”. It also states that “an aircraft is considered to be missing when the official search has been terminated and the wreckage had not been located”.

Annexe 13 states that search and rescue operations shall continue until all survivors are delivered to a place of safety or until all reasonable hope of rescuing survivors has passed.

MH370 disappeared less than an hour after departing from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8 last year. Most of with 239 people on board were Chinese nationals.

The initial search and rescue operations covered the South China Sea, Malacca Straits, Andaman Sea and southern Indian Ocean, involving 65 aircraft and 95 vessels and experts from 25 countries.

On April 28 last year, the search and rescue phase transitioned to a underwater search and recovery phase led by the Joint Agency Coordination Centre (JACC) and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB).

No wreckage of the plane has been detected yet despite ongoing search at the southern end of the Indian Ocean, where the flight is believed to have ended. – February 12, 2015.
