MEDIA STATEMENT released at 7.24am/8 Mar 2014 MH370 Incident

Sepang, 8 March 2014: Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH370 has lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am, today (8 March 2014).

Flight MH370, operated on the B777-200 aircraft, departed Kuala Lumpur at 12.41am on 8 March 2014. MH370 was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30am the same day. The flight was carrying a total number of 227 passengers (including 2 infants), 12 crew members.

Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft.

The airline will provide regular updates on the situation. Meanwhile, the public may contact +603 7884 1234 for further info.

 

 

oh my god... hope passengers will be safe...

If it loses contact with Subang, the plane should still be somewhere nearby or still under M'sian control.

 

At least not somewhere far out in the South China Sea.

once ....back in the 70s or 80s. No survivor! Crashed into dense jungle....Hope fir the best this time around!

this was due a suspected hijacking and it crashed in Johore. I wiki the info"

Strange that MH370 is under Subang Traffic Control as this flight flies out from KLIA.

 

Hope everyone is ok.

 

The control center need not be based at KLIA, there are air traffic control facilities around KLIA, but that is for localised traffic approaching and departing the airport.

 

The one at Subang is probably part of a wider radar network that monitors air traffic far out. Won't be surprised if this can cover up to SG.

bernama reported the capt made emergency landing, but retracted the statement.

 

now will issue statement at 1030 after contacting noks.

 

doesnt look good. prayers to them all. :(
