What you won’t see in the movie trailer and what the mainstream media tends to ignore is why Somali piracy started in the first place: foreign companies are illegally over-fishing Somali waters and dumping large quantities of nuclear and hazardous waste off of Somalia’s coast.

A United Nations report and several news sources have suggested that piracy off the coast of Somalia was caused in part by illegal fishing. According to the DIW and the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, the dumping of toxic waste in Somali waters by foreign vessels also severely constrained the ability of local fishermen to earn a living. In response, the fishermen began forming armed groups to stop the foreign ships. They eventually turned to hijacking commercial vessels for ransom as an alternate source of income.

Yeah, I've watched the movie last friday, it's good and mouth-watering scene, how smart the Somalie pirate/s took control over a big whale who were stranded by eager-beaver motorised boats . . .

Wad Cpt Phillips did on the movie was over indulgence and pure intelligence over survival instinct & readiness.

Top mark to Tom Hanks acting, well, bottom line was, do not underestimate the Somalis fishermen who were thirsty and hungrier than anyone of us here . . .

Well, we cannot expect the powers that be to come clean about their wrongdoings, can we?
