Hey may I know what is that circular button switch for?

I accidentally discovered it, switched it on and off but still dunno what it controls. Referred to manual, they didn't label such a button.

Pls enlighten me if you know what this button is for. Thanks!

I was about to write that it was for your front sensor... hahaha... they should have used the blank panel where the blind spot detector switch is... haiz... actually look better and look original... just buy a blank panel switch from Ebay or Taobao...

Thanks for the link bro! Wow!!! Haven't seen you for ages...

I think includes our cars too since our cars are manufactured in Korea... but all not significant issues my feel although the news article didn't exactly specify what was faulty with those parts... vacuum pipes, fuel hoses, parking brake lights, and other parts... not exactly specific. And also not specific about the dangers that can be posed by failure of these parts...

This link below indicates engine defects - specifically metal debris in the engine which can lead to loss of power. This pertains to an earlier recall... but specific only to the US I think.

But this is for the Theta engines, which are GDIs... so this doesn't affect us. We use the older Nu MPI engines...

http://www.thedrive.com/sheetmetal/8376/hyundai-recalls-nearly-1000000-cars-over-faulty-seat-belts

This is for seatbelts earlier this year... but only for the older Sonata model, and the current model hybrids and hence don't affect us as well...

Overall recall history for all Hyundai models in USA:

Just saw a black Sonata turning into Jurong West Street 65, near my home... shout out to the bro here driving that car... I think it was a Monday night, almost 8.30 pm or thereabouts... I was driving behind you, grey Sonata sunroof model, along Ave 4 to the filter to Street 64... I turned into Street 65 but you didn't make it as the lights turned to amber as I crossed the junction.

Oh, that's me! SFR. Yours is SLB? I saw your car turning into the carpark gantry on several occasions. Cheers.

Turbocharged

I have travelled close to 300km from about 25km. Just pumped 1st full tank tank yesterday. According to the system, full tank can over 640km.

Cheers.

Congrats on your new ride. But the mileage seems rather high at 25km upon car collection..

In Jurong area, I sighted 3 generations of Sonatas. NF, YF and LF. Hope to see later part of the year or next year the LF facelift in the area too.

Thanks. Maybe used for joy ride and testing. Glad that whoever drove it didn't damage it more than I did on the 1st week - scratched the front left rim. Cheers

Some pictures of the new Sonata that I took at the Hyundai Motorstudio

The facelift is really sporty looking. I believe it will win over some fans. I like the colour of the leather. Cheers.

Is anyone interested in flashing the ECU? If I'm not mistaken, without turbo, the gains will be like 5%-10% in hp? I know in the past Harmony Motors was the so-called specialist for Korean cars' ECU flashing. Any comments are welcome. Cheers

Definitely more sporty... I prefer more elegant though... I guess it's an age thing...

Worth or not? Cos where in the engine rev band do you get the extra power? Usually at the redline? Edited by teomingern

I read that it increases hp by about 5% to 10%. It is usually done for those cars with turbo. Accordingly, the current hp is not optimized to make it more reliable and lesser wear and tear. Not sure how true. But if the piston cycles more leading to higher wear and tear likelihood, then yes, probably. But again I have limited knowledge.

Cheers.

Ah I see... for me... I'm the risk averse type... so I usually drive my car stock... won't modify the car in any way, even adding accessories... unless it's the official part.

Do you all find any big difference between eco mode and normal mode? Personally I can't feel much of a difference in driving experience or fuel economy between the 2. But I just put to eco when cruising on expressway or downslope for what it's worth haha...

Yes got difference... quite significant for me in terms of driveability... eco keeps the RPMs as low as possible, and changes up as quickly as possible... the engine mapping and throttle mapping is different I feel... normal is more powerful but the fuel consumption is definitely higher... I lose about 0.5 km/L on average on normal mode compared to eco.
