MACS for use in JB only ?

Is it true that MACS is only applicable for travel in JB only. I was informed by the Malaysia custom officer that should I travel to KL, I still need my passport to be stamped. As the travel visas remains the same, what happen if I was in JB for the first few days and suddenly I need to travel up to KL to attend urgent matters, does that means I need to make a trip down to the JB to get the stamp or I need to do a re-entry to JB again ? Very confusing.......

that's why I don't like this type of "half-baked" thing. Too troublesome.

Best is still the old fashion way, stamp it.

If you enter from JB, you dun need to Stamp.

Thereafter if you fly off from KLIA or Penang to another country, they will stamp exit on your passport.

When you enter Malaysia again without coming back to SG first, they will stamp entry.

Then when you head back to SG from Malaysia, they won't stamp but you can request them to stamp exit if you are worried.

If you head back to SG straight from other country, no stamp at all.

As long as you have MAC during that Exit or Entry period, don't have to worry.

Well, you're not wrong to say the least, MAC was implemented to foreigner/s for frequent traveller to Johore Bahru,( Biz Work and Play ) in any event whereby you need to travel up north for meeting, short holiday even to Kuala Trengganu or Perlis, you are subject to different City states stamping on your MAC passport as every states are governed by different

Sultan/s respectively.

As Johore Bahru sits on the Southern tips of causeway Singapore, Many Malaysians cross over Singapore to work live and Play too, look at them from their perspective and you will understand why so....

It's so convenience and practical to get it stamp, No problem at all, for a mere RM 30.00p/a MAC has far extended its advantages & purposes.

I have stopped using MACS for some time. Applied for it when it was first launched and on few occasions noticed that they don't even scan it, just open the passport, see the MACs and return to it.

Not sure if there would be any implications

If you are in JB, and needs to go KL, you don't need to stamp your passport cos both places are in the same country. You can just directly travel to KL from JB, or even to the rest of Malaysia from JB, without stamping the passport.

Simple as kacang puteh...As long your MACS is valid thru out your stay in malaisiah no matter what stamp or don't stamp it's consider legal unless you're leaving to other third world planet (Mars or Pluto for eg) it's common sense to fill up the visa card of that planet....Donate RM30 annualy is much much richer than giving SGD70 yearly to gormen that makes no sense at all....wahahaha...

To be clear, MACS pass is only valid for "West Malaysia" Only, me very often flying off from Senai Airport and the domestic airport immigration officer would stamp my passport without questions ask.

MACS Pass application has changed to 7am ~ 6pm at JB Immigration (no more 24hrs/7days), it is a very useful visa permit to save many pages in my new passport [thumbsup]

I was told the same thing by a msian customs officer once too.... but never encountered any issues travelling around west msia. I still cannot decide if he was wrongly informed or if he was trying to pull a fast one on me.

and as u rightly mentioned, it does not make sense if u need to get it stamped if need to travel outside Johor/iskandar. They do not have inter-state border crossings to facilitate this....

probably MACS was designed with the Iskandar development in mind, but as it is practically impossible to limit travel to within IDR only, MACS-holders can travel within west msia, not only within IDR.

for those that drive to Thailand, u can use macs for the Singapore-Malaysia border, but at the Malaysia-Thailand border, msia customs will stamp ur exit/entry. No questions asked abt how u entered msia without a stamp, if u have MACS.

Why the confusion? MACS can only be used at the Causeway or 2nd link immigration checkpoints. Simple as that.

My whole family got the MACS stiker on the passports.

Was stamped on the passport for the plane trip to tioman and also penang n kl.

But we ever driven to CH, Penang just on MACS without stamp before.

MACS save hell a lot of passport pages and also avoid funny questions by immigration of other countries especially the US.

The main reason I'm using MACS is to save pages from our super thin and premium passport unlike last time where they comes in thick booklet. I really don't understand why our govt come out with a passport that have so few pages and yet charges us more.......

what fanie questions?

You mean the US opicers will ask "Why are you travelling so frequently between Singapore which is a province of China to faraway Malaysia?" Bring a blardy map along and show them Singapore is right next to Malaysia.
