Lucky888 May 2, 2014 Share May 2, 2014 My car insurance is due for renewal. This car is fully paid up and left 2 years before COE expired. I was thinking should i go for: 1) Comprehensive - about $1600 2) Third Party only - about $900 3) Third Party with Fire and Theft - about $800 Any advise? ↡ Advertisement
Chucky2007 Turbocharged September 16, 2017 Share September 16, 2017 Is it worthwhile to just get 3rd party fire and theft insurance over comprehensive insurance? I'm asking because recently I smashed the rear boot of my car due to own negligence.. went 2 workshop and get Quote for insurance claims is $7-8k with 3-4weeks down time, 2-3weeks is administrative paperwork. And no replacement car as adds to my own insurance claim. I paid from own pocket cost $2k+ And 4 days down time.. Thinking why am I paying $1.6k for insurance if not claiming..

I think you got it mixed up. In any case, my advice to you is get 3rd party FT. With 2 yrs left it means your car is basically worthless even if you total it. Just paper only so why bother? If someone hits you, you claim his insurance. If you hit someone, you are covered with 3rd party, and you can just scrap your car if very serious. If not serious just touch up and drive on. Only 2 yrs. If own stupid mistake, just pay for it lah. Go workshop to claim, always inflated. Pay from own pocket always much cheaper and quicker. Fark those b**tards who inflate claims and cause honest people to pay more. Damn them!
