2005-2009 ...

WRX base model $80k-ish and STI $100k-ish?

if you shed $50k from coe ... the price increment is not very bad but still quite a fair bit ... inflation + performance upgrade

For a 5 sec century sprint car, $207K should be quite okay compared to other performance cars of this caliber.

Objectively speaking, what other new cars can you buy for this price that has similar performance?

I have not even seen one new Accord on the road so far

Think its the usual marketing strategy (esp since theres no Evo & Type R to compete), ......

STI : Launch with 5sp first. Later face lift, with 6sp.

WRX : Used auto coz now that enforcement is strong, its tough for WRX to get away with mods. So for the manual folks, its STI immediately.

- they realized that their JDM WRX/SGT (4at) & STA (5at) had good sales? So might as well reserved this for the base WRX.

However, using CVT application on 350nm, full time AWD, TC. Its scary.

However, understand that Nissan used CVT for the Murano which is 3.5 V6, with similar hp & torque, AWD, heavier and got away with it. So hopefully, Subaru got right with their base WRX.

Guess existing Forester TC owners maybe able to shed some light on the CVT.

That was the all time low iirc. Or was it 67?

Hence, they said hp per $, nothings beats the base rex.

New STi comes with 5 speed manual? For both new WRX and STi, they are all 6 speed manuals. But why on earth WRX is only with CVT and only STi comes with manual for our market kind of sucks. Further more, cars these days nearer to $200k are really no brainers. Gov will only thank buyers for contributing to their pockets.

For this price can get entry level conti like Audi A3, Merc C180, BMW 316 etc.

1/3 the performance of the Subaru, but the badge can give badge whores owners high performance kkj & ego. [grin]
