Congratulation to Japan!

Well Done Malaysia!

This is the weakest team and yet got Silver.

Somehow this year thomas cup is a surprise.

China, korea and indonesia all failed to go into final and more surprisingly japan got the gold and thrash china.

even before the game started ... the commentator already comment that msia can only win if LCW + the 2 doubles win

the other 2 singles cannot match japan

when msia 1st double lost, all hope already gone

msia 1st double leading with 1st set made the biggest mistake .... [:(]

so near yet so far again for Malaysia.

This is the 9th time as 2nd place I think.

But it was a good final. Both teams were actually very close and it was a good fight from both sides till the end.

is good to have Japan win the Thomas Cup!

good to have more viewers other than the usual countries.

i mean just look at tennis n other sports which can attract huge crowds, advertisements, broadcasting

been a badminton fan myself but find that this sport is losing its shine compare to 20years ago.

Great win by Japan. It was Malaysia's best chance of a Thomas Cup victory after 22 years but were let down by nervy players (who wouldn't be?!?!). Nail biting stuff.

I learnt that on Malaysia qualifying for the final, the malaysian govt, actually paid off Astro (who had exclusive rights) so that public channel rtm could broadcast it to a wider audience. Great move to revive the sport's following.

Made me recall how 30 years ago we were playing badminton at void decks after following the thomas cup exploits on free-to-air channels.

The Thomas Cup competition was the idea of Sir George Alan Thomas, a highly successful English badminton player of the early 1900s, who was inspired by tennis's Davis Cup, and football's (soccer's) World Cup first held in 1930. His idea was well received at the general meeting of the International Badminton Federation (now Badminton World Federation) in 1939.  ^_^
