As you may have watched the TV spots on TV, MRT stations or even Youtube Ads, TF4 is coming to cinemas in 26th June.

It's still directed by Michael Bay but have a whole new cast of characters. That's why, Mr Shia belouf is not in the movie....YIPEE!!

The direction of the film is suppose to be darker, more serious and slapstick humor we found in the 1st trilogy will be reduced by alot. Micheal Bay wants to reinvent the movie to take on a different story arc, as if there is a story arc in the 1st trilogy.

Basically they will introduce new enamy, a human organisation that specialised in killing and stealing Transformers technology. (Called "Machination" in the comic or "M.E.C.H." in the cartoon)

The cast of the actors include Mark Wahlberg, the guy who did and "The departed" and "Lone Survivor" and a handful of not so famous actors.

It'll be noted that this film is heavily supported by Chinese companies and a bulk of the movie takes place in China and Hong Kong.

If you ask me, even as a long-time Transformers Fan, I'm skeptical on this 4th installation, and I have little faith in Michael Bay, esp after he butchered the original cartoon/concept to make way of these ugly spiky robots that made to the 1st trilogy.

I will still catch the movie, cos I'm a long-time TF fan and it just seems wrong for a fan not to watch every media thrown to him. But I will not queue up in front of the threaters just to catch it first.

I think he did find for the first trilogy cause he try to use real parts as far as possible hence look spiky.

Anyway. This look like the megatron arc.

Think Megatron is dead, history.

I hoped this trilogy to be the Unicron Arc.

The problem with TF movies is there are so many characters it confusing.

I'll be putting up the character introductions list soon to give you a summary and to get to know characters better before you catch the movie.

PART 1: The Autobots that were announced.

prime.jpg
Optimus Prime: '
After 3 movies, this guy needs no introduction. I'm sure many also know his more benevolent cartoon version as oppose to his more brutal and violent Movie version. But Movie or cartoon, Optimus Prime is the undisputed childhood hero of many.
In this movie, we know he took up the disguise as an older Trailer Cab early in the film, a homage to his G1 style. He later switched to an updated model of the Cab we are familiar with in the movie. Also we occasionally see shots of him becoming something like "Gandalf the White" and carrying a sword and shield, which I believe it to be a plot device. Not to mention him riding on the king of the Dinobots, Grimlock.
Alt Mode: Blue fired Semi Truck

bumblebee.jpg
Bumblebee:
After 3 movies, this guy needs no introduction. The most favorite cartoon character is also the smallest and weakest of the Autobots. But the movie beefed him up to regular size and since then, he has won newer and younger fans.
In the movie, we know he took up older camero models and when into hiding. We also know his new design makes him more insert-like. We are not sure if he still hold a significant role in the movie since the previous lead, Sam, is no longer in the movie. Perhaps he will forge new (and less irritating) friends. Still cannot speak.
Alt Mode: Yellow Chevy Camero

ratchet.jpg
Rachet:
The Medic of the autobot team. Transforms into an ambulance. The character of this guy and his cartoon version has not much difference.
His role in the movie is unknown. Marketing for the movie did not emphasis on him. He role in the movie should be minimal or possibly be killed off, as shown in the TV spots.
Alt Mode: Ambulance

Hound.jpg
Hound (New Character):
In the old cartoon, this is a young robot with expertise in scout operations. His special ability is to project realistic holograms which he had used countless of times to trick and confuse the enemy.
This movie will be his first appearance and he is potrait as an old looking bearded robot and transforms into a large military truck. Whether his character and abilities is simliar to the cartoon is still unknown.
Alt Mode: Olive Green Military Truck

Drift.jpg
Drift (New Character):
This character did not appear in the cartoon, but is a very popular character in the Comics. He is so popular that he even have his own toy.
In the comics, he used to be a brutal and cruel Decepticon but was left for dead. He was rescued and healed by an Transformers "swordsman". Slowly, he learned the way of the "swordsman". Of course, this caused the Decepticons to put a bounty on him and he eventually cross swords with a fearsome decepticon bounty hunter. He defeated the bounty hunter but his rescuer was mortally wounded. He vowed to continue he's rescuer's ways of the sword and joined the Autobot to fight against his old allies.
We have no idea how and what he will be like in the movie, but given his Samurai look he seemed to be a japanese-style swordsman. We do hear from speculations that his comic's backstory will also be part of the Movie's plot.
Alt Mode: Black/Blue Burgatti Veyron

crosshairs.jpg
Crosshairs (New Character)
We have no idea about Crosshair. He is not in the cartoon or comics. He is simply there as a toy with a "Targetmaster" gimmick. Means his gun can change into a robot.
As for his role in the movie, he looked totally different, even in color, he even wear a mechnical trenchcoat. He seem to have some cool moves in the trailers. Let's hope the movie turn this character from soulless toy into a great character.
Alt Mode: Green Chevy Corvette

leadfoot.jpg
Leadfoot:
This is a forgettable character from the 3rd movie. Transformed into a NASCAR racing car. Suppose to be in the Coverted Autobot "Wreckers" team. In this movie, only his vehicle is briefly seen in the set. His role in this movie should be minimal and possibly to be killed off.
Alt Mode: Red NASCAR racing race

brains.jpg
Brains:
Another forgettable character from the 3rd movie. His role in this movie will be minimal. Either to be killed off or to act as comic relief.
Alt Mode: Lenovo Laptop

The transformer movies are terrible.

The only improvement i can say is shia lebeouf is finally gone.

I mean i get it that they can move fast but don't make it so fast that i can't watch what's going on rather than just things blindly moving across the screen.

Not to say I unlike TF because I love to watch movies. Watched all TF movies and most look forward is this one because the leading roles have changed. It is a bit difficult to catch a big crump of scrap metal fighting together so I hope to see more slow motion actions in this instalment.

Part 2 is one of the worse. All I can see is bunch of metals rolling around when they fight. Part 3 at least we see many explosion.

IMHO, they make childhood comic heroes (of most movie directors/producers as well as ours) come to life. It is fun and exciting, they bring out 'young kid feel' out of all audience with such realistic super heroes in action. Though some may inject more subtle violence, adult flavour to the movies with different levels. Thanks to the ever-advancing CIG technology, everything in the movie looks real and the camera angle looks impressive... We just enjoy the movie as it is just a world of the comic super heroes... nothing else.... [rolleyes]
