Tonight I will get my wife to write me a 60 mil dollar cheque. If it clears, see if DBS can still find me after 82 days 

 

It has always been my understanding that a bank has to get permission to debit a depositor's account before they can do so. Even in cases where funds not meant for a depositor gets credited to his account mistakenly, permission has to be granted before debiting can take place so I'm surprised in this case that they reversed the credit without informing him.

 

Of course, it's also a criminal offence to keep funds not meant for you as well but anyway that's not the case here.

Shouldnt the Bank be liable for their own staff mistake?

 

imagine someone had sold their goods in exchange for S$600K

 

Now this happen after 82 days later after cheque is considered "Clear".

 

Hope the victim will sue DBS and get back the amount plus the interest.

happened to me one time too. was on overseas assignment and overlooked the payment.

knn... frozed my acct. then expect me to make payment when all my money is in that account that was frozen.

 

end up need to mah lu, borrow from my mother to make payment to unfreeze the account.

 

 

now they more sak kee. bank take your money to pay on your behalf~!!!
