Just to check does anyone has any idea when Defi oil pressure dip down and show red alarm during idling?

It will dip up and down, sometime it will just hold on.

So inconsistent. Must be engine oil not enough. Check the dipstick in the morning to check the oil level before you start the engine. It will be more accurate in the morning when the oil settle overnight.

If lack of oil or not enough oil pressure your turbo will be the first to up lorry.

Get ready some engine oil to top up. For TC engines it's good to check the dipstick once every two months. The engine oil is also lubricant to the turbo scroll shaft spinning at 5 digits rpm. It gets very hot and it will evaporate some oil.

Another thing I could think of is that some TC engines come with a variable oil pump. So that when engine speeds increase the pump will increase the oil pressure.

Are your gauges hydraulic or electric?

Are your gauges hydraulic or electric?

Defi gauges are electric and connected to the defi-link control unit. Very expensive setup but good quality. The fake fake one will have foggy lens covers if left in the sun. But cheaper ofcos $500 for set of 3 vs $1500 for 3 real ones + controller.

Not some of the older (pre-link) ones. Better to ask before advising.

Sorry. Didn't ask about which gauge from defi he using. I only know got 4 type. 2 of them using controller either defi link or defi link advance. The other two types are directly connected to the sensor. I just presume that ts use the newer type because most defis I see are always the bf type. Got either the advance one or older one but both are electric and connected to a controller. The 2 that don't use is the racer gauge series and single din series that are also used by ralliart.

The red alarm aka beeping is a preset warning at a certain value.

If you had set it as 1bar then when it falls below 1 bar then it will beep.

The question is what was your normal idling oil pressure. If all along it is above the warning level then now it may have dropped due to insufficient oil or oil pump issue. Another possibility is the Defi sensor faulty but that is not so common if genuine Defi.

If it's the new type, ask him to check his sender and wiring to that first. Usually an issue with that.

Why not just set to the factory spec for minimum oil pressure+abit?

My engine lower limit is 16 psi at idle, so my warning light is set to 20.

Using Defi-Link Meter ADVANCE BF, 6 years old ride, Mitsubishi Colt Turbo Version R.

In fact, the car is producing a numbers of problem, some has been resolved, but still is x-file cases, and i have been to several workshops, none can resolve the issues and most of time just trial and error, by replacing wear and tear parts, spending unnecessary.

Issues that i am still facing now.

1. When turn right (mostly is right side), i could hear "kok"

- A WS replaced BC Coilover top mount, issue still surface

- A WS commented the issue is due to after market Coilover, long run the "kok" sound can be hear.

2. I am still seeing Oil pressure dip on Defi Guage.

Once it dips, I can feel the car vibrating for a while. One of the WS has adjusted the default Defi Oil pressure threshold, in-directly avoiding the buzzing sound from the guage, i am still feeling the issue was un-resolve.

- My experience for Oil pressure dips, resulting car to vibrate is due to the MAF sensor which happens before cost me $400 to replace it.

Hi.

Turn right and having "Kok" sound could be drive shaft issue.

It can be spotted by hoisting and checking for oil leaks, dust cover torn etc.

As for your Defi my view is that the meter is fine but your fluctuating oil press could be a tuning or oil pump issue. The MAF is an airflow sensor so any fault in that should have poor FC, probably jerking at boost but not erratic oil press.

Suggest you bring to workshops more familiar w turbo rides like BMS, Dynotechnica, BKS etc.
