just to share on de-registering a car.

called up any authorized lta appointed scrap yard.

for me, i called kiat lee.

they will quote you the car body price.

i realize that the car body price is never fixed, it all depend on demand.

apply for lta t-pin and download, n fill up scrap car detail. (detailed from one motoring)

received the t-pin in 3 days via mail.

drive car to scrap yard, fill up some documents, while they check your car.

they will hand a document to you proving u have scrap your car.

and hand u in cash for the car body price.

all in all less than 30 mins if there`s no Q.

log in to lta to encash the parf n coe

listed within 2 weeks if apply online

got $ within a week through transfer via bank.

lta will send a normal mail with detail of encashment in a couple of days.

car insurance can get refund, by sending the original policy, with proof of car de-registered detail.

one motoring also mention unused road tax will be refund.

What do you mean HDB scrap vehicle without owner consent?

Vehicle was lay up and parked in HDB carpark. HDB removed the vehicle due to reasons vehicle is too long being parked at carpark.

They tow and store it at their storage place.

Suddenly they inform that they have already scrap the vehicle.

Now my friend is going to LTA to clarify.

How can they scrap without owner consent? All the money go to their pocket?

Could be someone complain and thought the car is an abandoned car, so HDB came and tow away the car and scrap it? Did the lay up vehicle still required to buy season parking?

1. Why did your friend lay up the vehicle in HDB carpark in the first place?

From my understanding, laid up vehicles must be stored in PRIVATE facility, not public carparks like HDB carpark.

2. Did HDB notify your friend that they have removed the vehicle and put the vehicle in their storage yard?

3. If yes, why did your friend not redeem the vehicle from their storage yard?

From what I understand, HDB reserves the right to dispose of vehicles in their storage yard if not claimed within a certain period of time.

4. If the vehicle is already deregistered, the PARF value will still go back to your friend as he is the rightful owner. What HDB may get is the body value of the vehicle during the deregistration process.

A lot of details are missing from your post.

Hi,

i probably be scrapping my car in 2 weeks time since i'm unable to find any owner nor any dealers is keen.

I was offered $50 for the body, and the refund from LTA should take 10 working days to a month.

Was told that it's ok to dekit the accessories and surrender as bare.

Of course, i tried to scrap under the dealers but was told  1-2%of the refund will be incurred.

Where they will give me instant cheque after deducting this 1-2%.

I guess the best is still scrap on my own, I have just requested the Tpin.

Sgcarscrap, is offering me $50 and convenience,  i probably will hand over the car to them at komoco.

is there anymore things that i need to take note of.

Just scrap the car yourself, very easy de. If go through dealer, like you said need to incur some charges. But since you are buying a new car with kmc, usually you would hand over the car on the day of your new car collection, and just get back the refund from LTA and any unused road tax.

yeah.

sgcarscrap, seems to be ok. $50 + pick up at KMC.

The cut off is on the day itself but must before 4pm, so i probably will hand over in the morning.

i have paid my road tax for a full year, if all goes well before 14th of Sept, i'm still eligible for a 6 month refund.

Am considering to scrap my 6yr old car.

AD's used car company offering only paper+1k

So I probably just want to scrap it just before taking in new ride.

One question is, how really long does lta to refund the paper? Any confirmation they will scrap and not sell it locally or export?

Any scrap yards willing to pay in full? Paper+body?

Look for a dealer who is willing to pay you in full. They will transfer your ownership, scrap your car and export it. You get full return withing 1 or 2 days.

LTA will take about 1 or 2 weeks to refund you if I remember correctly.
