Reliability should be awesome, because there is a youtube channel called AutoVlog (exact spelling) where the (crazy, in my opinion) guy does all kinds of things to his Ford Focus Titanium based on user comments. The car is still going strong. Check it out. (Can't link from my PC).

Just wondering if any other focus hatchback users here experienced knocking sounds on the rear suspension when you have heavy passengers seated in the rear. And do you guys think the car is pretty low for stock setting? i hit the super high hump at woodlands checkpoint malaysia side every single time(the one where theres a triangle hump on top of another hump)

Tried both Ford Focus 1.0 wagon and Peugeot 308 wagon.

Am deciding between the 2 as both are same price.

Is it me or somehow I felt the focus 1.0 seemed more responsible and powerful than the 1.2 liter 308?

For focus, from stationary with a slight lag when the pedal is depressed once past 1.5krpm the pull is very noticeable, unlike the Peugeot 308, acceleration is pretty linear, feeling softer actually though I have no idea actual acceleration is indeed slower. It could possibly be the focus having a stiffer setup. I also felt that the 308 has a noticeable lag at every gear change while the focus shifts much quicker.

I like the innards of the Peugeot 308, well equipped yet looks minimalist though I like the external of the ford which is like a mini Aston Martin. The Peugeot also feels more comfy. What do you guys think of these 2?

As a driver, I'd prefer the Focus. As a passenger though, the 308 gets my vote. So depends what you use the car for most of time. Ferry people or most times you driving alone.

Yeah my wife was seating behind and she commented that I drive like a taxi driver trying to save petrol by repeatedly releasing the pedal and jerking around on the Ford. She definitely preferred the Peugeot. I think she is slightly biased as She preferred the Peugeot even without stepping into it as she commented the heaven and earth difference in aesthetics before the test drive.

Now I do prefer the drive in the Ford though it's just slightly. I wonder how's the maintenances like. Seems like not much data on this 308 model locally.

5 Months since I have gotten this car.
6000 KM
All in all, i would say that this car is great value for money.

Tech and gadgets wise, definitely not the best but
I love it and have no regrets.
You won't get sick of its looks, handling and torque.

But one thing I really hate is still its FC, i am only getting 8.8 KM / Litre.
Its horrendous for a one liter car. Full tank 410K, meaning 330-340km will have fuel light on.

Anyone has any idea where I can get affordable Ford Rims, control panel stickers and decals?
I wanna blacken my grilles.

I am thinking of getting Ford Focus as my next car.  However, a bit concern about the power since it's 1.0 litre and also the FC as mentioned by some others here.

I am currently driving a Honda Fit so power wise, if it's not worse off I am fine.  For FC, I guess Fit will definitely win Ford.

Any other views?

Likely you are very much into city driving and perhaps plenty of short trips hence the poor FC?

If you are driving a Fit right now I would expect you are a little sensitive to fuel consumption and have expectations for cargo space/practicality. In this regards the 308/308SW next door will be better.

The PureTech platform is actually quite good in terms of economy, and the 308/308SW have boots that are among, if not the largest in their classes.

The extraordinary cargo room does come at the expense of rear passenger legroom, but the Focus is pretty mediocre in both rear space and cargo capacity by today's standards anyway.

What the Focus is known to be superior in is its handling and willingness to communicate, thanks to the suspension design that also does not sacrifice comfort. The 1.0L can be economical if you don't get eager to use its surprising power. It just feels and goes like fury when you're in the car, due to the torque, even if it's not that fast in actual. But it's still noted as being one of the worst in terms of fuel efficiency among the so-called eco 3-cylinders turbos.

I do find the 308 has other issues though, one of them being the usless glove compartment. Suspension wise it is still a good handling car according to reviews but one should note that it does not use independent rear suspension.

Consumer reports in US rate the reliability quite poorly

thought they already let the cat out of the bag, that small TBC engine has its limitations and fuel efficiency in the real world environment. That engine downsizing will stop.
