Old tyres on new car from AD

I recently collected a new Nissan sylphy.

Question 1:
The tyres (cpc2) date code are week 40, 2013. That means tyres are more than a year old. Do you guys think this is reasonable, coming from a new car from a major AD? The car manufacturing date is 2014.

Question 2:
One of the tyres has a different date code from the other 3. This one is week 19, 2014. Is mixing same model tyre but from different manufacturing dates as far as 6 months ok?

Thanks for reading and answering. I could not find a thread that is talking about tyres age for new car.

u must see if the rim and tyre come fitted from factory like conti brand

or whole car come in steel rim and undersize tyre to cheat omv, then the rim are import seperate and the tyre locally fitted

nothing u can do, thats how they go around the loopholes, anyway by time u hit 5 yr past mfg date, u have worn out the tyre before that, as long as the tyre are new, its ok

Its ok bro actually as long as never used and less than 2 years from mfg date.

But if want replace ask AD to replace a new one, make some scene there, I am sure got chance to change all 4 tyres to new one.

Most likely tyre are fixed locally..

I think for my car the SSS model it is actually fitted in Thailand. Cos the rims n the tyre model are standard in all the other countries. The other sylphy models rims n tyres are locally sourced.

Ok thanks.

Just a bit unhappy that tyres are not fresher. I know 1 year old tyres are actually ok to fit and use. When we go buy tyres from tyre shop we also check date codes and try to get something that is not more than 6 months old. Some more got different batch tyres on the same car.

Will not bang table if this is borderline only. If 2 years old tyres sure will bang.

Anyway, do you guys check tyre date codes when collecting car?

Probably nissan sales not doing well or bought more tyres at cheaper price thats why ur car newer than the tyre.

But when i do collection new car, i never check the tyres only on paint work and ensures all functions are not faulty

As long as the threads are deep and the tyres are new then it's ok la.

Else take it as a reason to upgrade the rim size and get new tyres...haha.

good morning C78

so long the tyres they supplied is NEW (meaning un-use) they are NOT wrong .

as regards the date manufactured marked on the tyre, you are fine and sure OK if your car AD or Tyre local AD / tyre manufacturer give you Product warranty (generally 5 years)

generally we botak the tyres in 2-3 years so is fine to put on a 1-2 years date new tyres

Just like you was given or buy a canned food dated made 2012 you are still SAFE to consume it before the exp date left 6or 12 months.

and please do not expect/not necessary all the date marked are all the same to be fitted on your car

Thanks for your comments, I agree with you that tyres with 1 year of storage are safe to use. This is why I did not complain during collection of car, and I am driving it everyday now. We can see many threads on things to look out for during car collection. I believe tyre date codes is not usually mentioned even though tyre buy threads usually include this as an important thing to look out for. Maybe we usually take for granted that new cars will come with equally new tyres, or too busy with other things. So this thread is for discussion. Just in case you get 2-3 years old tyres on your new car.

I hope my point of this thread comes across correctly.

It is about quality for the price you paid.

Using your analogy, I would not buy the canned food that has only 6 months left out of total shelf life of 2-3 years. Not from a mid-tier supermarket (big jap AD) where prices are not budget cheap anyway. Low and mid tier supermarkets would usually place such items on promo price to clear. High end tier would not sell them I think.

Dear C78,

sorry for may be my words too heavy.

anyway should you have any Quality issue about the said tyres can always go back to Nissan AD for reason and explanations

I am sure they are happy to serve you as a New car buyer not just new tyre buyer for the price you paid .

if buy fresh stock conti car, u consider the time for car sit boat come here, build+store in factory / warehouse for a while, and on tyre that is produced a while earlier before fitting, the tyre date is around 9 month at least also

if buy ex stock car, can be > 1 yr also

so not a big issue

thats true. but if a person can afford such cars, I don't think they would bother about the manufacturing dates of the tyres.
