Hi guys/gals

I owned a 06 trajet and found that its leaking gearbox oil. There will also be a great-felt jerk when changing from gear 2 to gear 3.

Does this mean gearbox kaput liao? Other then this, it still drive smoothly. No high revs and all.

What are the things that could happen? Need to find out some info 1st before headin to the workshop. Scared workshop easy way out is too overhaul or change recond gearbox.

Pls advise. Or any trajet owners scrapping their car maybe I can swap your gearbox?

Gear box no oil is no joke, I ever drove an AE111, when traffic lights turn green step on accelerator but only hear grinding sound, zero movement. Tow to workshop, technician told me gear box drain plug came lose and lost. Lucky I didn't keep on stepping accelerator else gearbox kaput...

oil leaking i advise you to go and replace the gearbox oil seals immediately , the seals may be worn already. after replacing your gearbox should not have leak anymore.

If the oil is leaking, find out where it's leaking from.

There's a gasket on the oil pan and also a gasket around the oil plug.

These can be cheaply replaced.

Check the auto trans dipstick level, there's a H (hot) and C (cold) marking. Refer to your manual if there's enough oil.

Make sure there's enough first.

Then if there's still jerking when shifting gears, probably some control has failed, like shift solenoids.

This need to be fixed in a workshop.

Just an update : now my engine light check is on..

Haiz...

It's better the light is on, bcuz it will throw some codes.

With the codes (read by OBDII reader), you can narrow down where's the fault lies.

I'm driving jet too, mine is leaking at torque converter side. I just top up a bit a bit every 3-4 wk. Hopefully will last the end of Coe in 10 month time. Cos my will required to take out GB to fix $$$

Which part is your leak?

if at drive shaft or atf pan will be easy n low cost to fix.

For the gear throwing part did u change atf to try 1st?

If persist n u dun think can drag till end of Coe, then might need to overhaul liao.

Btw u can search under my Nick for more info on the cost of repair, there is another thread on GB repair.

Good luck

shift solenoids may be the case to for shifting problem, that will be cheaper than overhaul

do share w us on your finding after you have fix it.

once again good luck!!

Trajet always have this solenid issue

My scrapped trajet also have this issue, when in revers gear, got a jerking from the GB, when put to D mode also jerking

I thought seow leow, need to change GB

But when I go to my JB mechanic, he use the diagnostic tools to check which point to the solenid issue

The he goes to he back yard and yank one solenids from his pile of spares and replace it

All problem solved, paid RM150 and last me till the end

Got many of my fellow trajet friends all also change their solenids

Hi. But mine is when shifting from gear 2 to gear 3 it will jerk. Sometimes soft jerk most times great jerk. Does changing solenoids help for this type of case? By the way how much is each solenoid?

My gearbox oil leak not sure where yet but when park sure have stain. Hopefully this could be solved by changing oil seals and all rubber that surrounds it.

Google khang auto transmission centre for GB specialist , they have shop both in sin n jb.

Else can go Synergy Automobile in kaki bt.

Best can get the bro 8188 in mech contact :-).

Can just let them check n get quote 1st then decide.

Look under the car for the leak.

if at driveshaft mean drive shaft seal leak.

if it in between the engine n GB it the torque converter seal.

the other area is the GB pan (square/rectangle szie)

Take note that the solenids that my JB mechanic installed are used one, but what the heck, when i installed it, my trajet have only one year to go, if buy brand new from song yi, i think around 100+ per solenids and I think total have 5 for trajets, some workshop will recommend to change all solenids

But i would say depends on how long more your car COE

Got a trajet friend, after change all brand new solenids and check engine light still come on, he went workshop many times to check again and again and later give up, just drive

the JB mechanic name is AH Hui contact +60 12790 2084

He is those why change when not broken type

Labour charge in RM, save alot

Used to compare parts price and if not much difference, I bring parts from SG in to JB let him fixed

There is a hyundai spare parts shop in JB as well, price abit cheaper then singapore

Name is : CT Auto Spare Sdn Bhd

Tel : 07 2320000

Cheers

Gearbox lack oil meaning unsmooth shift, lots of wear and tear and worst gear up lorry due to friction and such.... how fast does it drained? Seal leak is quite a major job cos need to take down the whole engine if i ma not wrong.
