Dark_flan 2nd Gear January 5, 2015 Share January 5, 2015 Only saw one topic in regards to it. But anyone adjusted it. Why? example the cable is slack. But acceleration is fine but very weak to climb up hill and feel acceleration pedal have a mild vibration when accelerating. My mounts is due to be replaced but does it have any link to it. ↡ Advertisement
Volvobrick Supersonic January 5, 2015 Share January 5, 2015 Most cars should be on electronic throttle by now, ie no physical cable to be found under the hood.

Long time no hear of such thing call throttle cable. LoL... Many many years ago the vehicle I drove also using throttle cable. Over the years the steel cable stretched, acceleration become weaker and weaker. I suggest that you replace the cable coz stretched too much it will snap. My mounts is due to be replaced but does it have any link to it.May not be throttle cable since weakness only during climbing. Loose cable even move off traffic will feel it. I last time adjust before but don't really feel much. But I give buffer cos scared snap. What car you driving? Now most car use e-throttle no cable liao. May not even be relevant to your car. If acceleration ok but climbing slow sound abit like clutch issues too. Auto or manual? Edited January 6, 2015 by Pocus
Cmtan1 1st Gear January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 I must be driving a very old car. Mine is a Altis and it is still using a cable throttle. You can adjust to set the idling speed, nothing more. That may give you the feeling of a more responsive acceleration at the expense of more fuel being burnt.
Hamburger Hypersonic January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 slack in climbing up hill has nothing to do with throttle cable. Its the lack of torque.

GSIdude Neutral Newbie January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 Slack in throttle cable will limit the amount of opening of the throttle body plate. So unless you are feeling a difference when you floor it, it doesn't really make a difference in normal part throttle driving. I have a feeling you are referring to the car being hesitant to kickdown or downshift when going uphill? So it feels sluggish pulling in a cruising gear.... My Swift also old. Even chery A1 using e-throttle, that's why they can fix throttle controller then become like turbo based on their feedback in a thread 2 months ago...lol
Kb27 Supersonic January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 If you have a slack throttle cable, just adjust it a bit taut. But not so much as to affect the idling speed.
Kklim Supercharged January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 Avante 2009 still on throttle cable. To me less electronic stuff less prone to fault Didn't know that. Got a 2009 Avante, too. Yah, fewer things to spoil.
Kb27 Supersonic January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 Didn't know that. Got a 2009 Avante, too. Yah, fewer things to spoil. Korean cars are generally a little "behind time" and low-tech. But that doesn't mean it's bad. In fact, less electronics, less complexity usually means less problem. Avante went from hydraulic power steering to electric motor and got into more trouble, when a certain part fell off and make noise.
Dark_flan 2nd Gear January 6, 2015 Author Share January 6, 2015 I driving the first generation Altis. I know this one is to mainly help response time and idling speed. I seen other cars driving the same as mine also go fast on up slope. So it is not the car that's weak. :P but how to adjust it?

Somewhere in-between throttle cable or at the throttle body would be some sort of clip or lock nut attached. If it's a clip, remove it carefully, so it don't fly off. If it's a lock nut, loosen it. Pull the cable taut, then put back the clip or lock nut. ↡ Advertisement
