Kippei 3rd Gear January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 Difficulty Level : 3/5 Car: Hyundai Avante Suspected previous owner never change the fuel filter, decided to get it replace DIY style. Replacement span over 2 days. A lot of figuring what going on. Reason why 2 days is because the bloody o-ring is giving me a lot of issue. First buying fuel filter from stocklist doesn't come with o-rings. Second, i thought i got all the o-ring taken but the car won't start and found out there is one o-ring hidden at the pump outlet. 2nd day morning, the fuel pump system wasn't holding pressure so end up having delay start of 2 -6 sec before the engine cut in. End up is o-ring issue again. You have to manually force the fuel pump outlet into the fuel filter with the special notches at the fuel pump outlet. Overall is a great deal of learning experience. I had to open up and dismantle the darn thing 5 times to do troubleshooting. Actually its a easy job once you get the hang of it ↡ Advertisement
Mkl22 Twincharged January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 Yup I had the same experience when I diyed. Except I had to go fetch my mechanic over to finally fix it as I couldn't figure it out. It was also an o Ring issue. I placed it into the orifice 1st but it had to be place on the pipe and then jammed in. Then it worked fine.
Kippei 3rd Gear January 29, 2015 Author Share January 29, 2015 I supposed thats the regulator that you are having issue with. The saying pump when fuel tank reach 1/4 is kinda true. The whole pump assembly is warm when i took it out.
Tiger1 6th Gear January 29, 2015 Share January 29, 2015 This is definetely one diy job that I wouldn't do it myself. Other diy stuffs I could understand, but...fuel system better leave it to the specialists.

Kippei 3rd Gear January 31, 2015 Author Share January 31, 2015 Means better to top up once reach 1/4? Yeahhh Any abnormal symptom you find while driving before need to change fuel filter. Thanks Lack of power and cannot rev high RPM. anyway 40k 50K is time to change. I saw a lot of shiney metals bit at the bottom of the pump assembly. Like oil filter, change it at regular interval. Watwheels Supersonic January 31, 2015 Share January 31, 2015 Eh...are you using viton o-ring? Coz if you use regular rubber o-rings they might disintegrate rather quickly as petrol is quite volatile.
Kippei 3rd Gear January 31, 2015 Author Share January 31, 2015 I just use whatever the old filter have. ↡ Advertisement
