Jman888 Moderator February 17, 2015 Share February 17, 2015 Exploding manhole sends five-year-old boy flying into the air KIRAN MOODLEY Monday 16 February 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8llq43R8DAU This is the moment a young boy in China was sent flying two metres into the air - a clear warning to anyone who thinks throwing a lit firecracker into a sewer is a wise idea. CCTV shows a young boy on roller skates in a park with two other children and a man. Local news reports in China's Henan Province suggest the boy was five years old and the older man was his uncle. The five-year-old can be seen placing two lit firecrackers into the manhole underneath him, as his uncle and the two other children look on. Suddenly, the manhole cover explodes upwards, sending the young boy flying into the air, landing back on the pavement head first. His uncle and the two children appear unhurt, with the uncle helping the five-year-old to his feet shortly after the explosion. Security staff member Bao Yiming said that three manholes were blown out of position in the event, describing it as a "very serious explosion". The trio of manholes were launched over three metres into the air. "The boy lay down there, he stood up after a few minutes," Yiming said. "His leg had a flesh wound and he had a little bruise on the right-side of his face." The manhole covers have since been repaired, according to management staff in the community. ↡ Advertisement

Jman888 Moderator February 14, 2018 Share February 14, 2018 every year sure got people try their luck Firecrackers, 'bak kwa' seized at Singapore checkpoints ASEAN/EAST ASIA Wednesday, 14 Feb 2018 by lydia lam SINGAPORE: Firecrackers and bak kwa (Chinese barbecued meat) were seized at Tuas and Woodlands Checkpoint here, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said on its Facebook page on Tuesday (Feb 13). In the first case, ICA officers detected five boxes of "pop pop", a type of firecrackers, under the front passenger seat of a Singapore-registered car on Saturday. The firecrackers were seized by the Singapore Police Force. Just two days later, officers detected 39 strips of firecrackers in the boot of another Singapore-registered car at Tuas Checkpoint. The firecrackers were also seized. This time, a 37-year-old man was referred to the police for investigation. ICA said in its post that both "pop pop" and firecrackers are prohibited items under the Dangerous Fireworks Act. In another Facebook post on Tuesday, ICA said there were two cases of bak kwa being hidden in snack packages at Woodlands Checkpoint on Monday. "As Malaysia is not an approved country for the importation of meat products by travellers, the packets of bak kwa were disposed of," wrote ICA. The cases were handed over to the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) for further investigations. Controlled items such as bak kwa or barbecued meat, eggs and potted plants are subject to travellers' allowance only from approved countries, ICA said. "Travellers are reminded that Malaysia is not an approved country for personal import of meat products and eggs," said ICA. Currently, travellers can bring in up to 5kg of pork and pork products directly into Singapore from 21 AVA-approved countries, including Canada, Netherlands and the United States. For a list of approved countries, refer to AVA's website, the SG TravelKaki App or ICA's website. – THe Straits Times/Asia News Network Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/news/regional/2018/02/14/firecrackers-bak-kwa-seized-at-singapore-checkpoints/#xoeYGRvUvS6V7mWC.
