If car COE expires 20/03/2015, I shd de-register the car on 20th or 19th March?

I will go to LTA to submit the form.

There is a dealer who want to buy car for $500. Ask me to meet him at LTA 2pm.

So that I will submit the de-registration form on 20/03/2015.

But said I only submit it at 4pm cos driving car to Malaysia.

I will be given a letter for purchasing the car for $500.

Is this a gd arrangement?

If car is not exported I will lost parf right?

If you car expires on 20th Mar, means you car is registered on 21st mar. So your last day of de-registration is 20th.

However, not wise to drive to Malaysia on the last day... should any unforseen circumstance arises, the situation can get sticky if you are not able to come back in time.

PARF value will be paid to you by LTA when u de-register so nothing to do with export or end up in scrapyard.

Not me want to drive to Malaysia. The dealer want to drive it there. This consider export?

More prudent to sell it to him the paper value + $500 right?

Why? If he did not export it properly how? You loose your PARF rebates. For export, you need endorsed customs permit, signed bill of lading or related shipping document to prove to LTA before they can refund your PARF.

I thought u driving to Malaysia. Agree with Kangadrool, sell him PARF + $500, cleaner and safer for you.

Haha, no way man. Don't trust the dealer.

If the car goes in and doesn't come back, you will be in a whole lot of trouble with LTA.

The whole thing does not sound right...

Below are the deregistration procedures I remembered

1. Agree on the car body price

2. Meet dealer at LTA with IC.

3. You will have park the car at the LTA carpark. There are some documents to sign with the dealer

4. Deregister at LTA counter with dealer. The dealer should have some kind of EPZ(Export Processing Zone) license to take responsibility of exporting you car

5. The moment the car is listed as deregistered in the LTA server, the remaining Road Tax, PARF and COE will be rebated based on this date + 1 by LTA. The actual LTA cheque will come later.

6. Get Cheque/Cash for the agreed car body price from the dealer.

7. Hand over keys to the dealer. The car is already deregistered, hence no longer can be driven on the roads. He will have to tow the car out of the carpark

8. After 2 - 4 weeks, after the dealer completes the EPZ paper works, LTA will send you the letter to complete reregistration online, as well as the road tax rebate.

9. About 1 week after deregistration, you will get the COE and PARF rebate in cheque.

The market for 10 yr old car body is rather low. Especially now where it is flooded with potentially 70,000 deregistrations a year

If yours is a nissan sunny class car, and offered above $200 for the body, there is a high chance trickery is involved, either to you, or to LTA.

Just sharing my experience.. Hope this will help

According to the dealer, he do not want to pay the tow charge to wherever it needs be. So ask me to only submit the de-registration form 2hr later as he drives out of Sg.

Sounds fishy lo.

What if I submit and Lta say something missing and cannot approve?

Moreover I need to sign a letter saying I sell to him at $500. That wld mean I agree.

Thought your car must be physically in sg when you deregistered your car? How can the dealer asked you to degistered after 2 hours when he drove the car out of sg?

Please post the company of this dealer to share with fellow forumers. If I have a no parf car, I will definitely look for him.

Complete steps for deregistration are here: http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/de_register_a_vehicle/de-register.html

There are only 3 scenarios.

1) Scrapping

You have to bring your vehicle to a LTA scrap yard, who will process it for you.

2) Store in Export Processing Zone, pending export

You have to bring your vehicle to a EPZ operator who will do the processing.

3) Export

You need to submit 2 additional documents to LTA, Cargo Clearance Permit and Bill of Lading issued by a shipping line.

It's pretty obvious that once your "dealer" drives your car away, you have given away your PARF value for just $500. There is no way you can fulfil the conditions shown above for a successful deregistration.

De-registration is just sending the D01form to Lta.

There's no need to show lta the car is here.

Hi all.

I just called Lta his morning to clarify.

After I submitted the D01 form to de-register my car,

the dealer who took the car away has to submit the required documents within one month otherwise the parf may be forfeited.

In his case, I'm at his mercy whether he gonna complete the de-registration putting my five figure parf at risk le.

Then it doesn't seem worth it. You are getting a 5-digit PARF, perhaps it's better to drive it down to a LTA approved scrapyard and maybe get $100 for your body. It doesn't seem worth it to risk 5 digits for about $400 more. The other alternative is for dealer to buy at PARF + $500 like some others have mentioned.

You sell to him at 500 bucks means he will just pay you 500. No mention of the parf rebate right? It belongs to him.

No mentioned of parf or any conditions that the car has to be properly de-registered.

Don't seems worth the risk especially he said he is acting for someone (the boss).
