Spinelli_ck 6th Gear November 1, 2016 Share November 1, 2016 Around $800 or $850 at autosaver with AA discount. about there. the workshop i went to missed out on one of the mountings when the staff placed an order. so i changed three pieces for 700+. subsequently, the unker at a Honda specialist workshop mentioned it was not necessary to replace that mounting which was not replaced. it looks like a dog bone. Metalslug2 3rd Gear November 1, 2016 Author Share November 1, 2016 I just changed 1 engine mount last week, 88000km intent to renew COE (5 years) 2 years later, though next W&T parts should be shock absorber and wheel bearing, estimated cost at least S$2000, compare to buy new car (Civic 1.5T) ...... dilemma: buy new Civic1.5T: 120K (OMV 27K) 10 years COE Total: 120-15=105k 10 years Renew existing Civic 1.8FD COE 5 years: 25k lost OMV rebate: 11k Change W&T parts: 3k Total: 40k 5years why no 10 yrs? Andyong 2nd Gear November 6, 2016 Share November 6, 2016 Hi guys, Looking for some advice here. My fd4 recently has burning smell on rear right wheel. Can feel some heat from it too. Smell and heat only identified from that wheel as rest of wheels feels and smell ok. Rear brake pads replaced in August 2016. Nothing stuck in exhaust. No visible oil leakage front or back of car. Car can be driven normally in terms of acceleration and stopping.doesn't pull to one side. Only visible difference is that disc has rust around the bottom rim where brake pad is. Got a picture but not sure how to post. Anyway with similar experience? Thanks for reading.

Correct me if i am wrong. cos i also viewing civics. next year may want to change a COE civic FD. So now doing some homework. u trying to say those in Sgcarmart civic already renew 5 year COE and u want to ask the dealer to add another 5 more years that make it 10 years m I right ? if that your question I don't think u can do that, cause once u renew 5 year COE u cannot add another 5 more years if u want 10 years must straight renew 10 years u cannot renew already then want add another 5 years to make it 10 years. Andyong 2nd Gear November 6, 2016 Share November 6, 2016 Thanks for the feedback. I suspected that as well but there isn't any drag during acceleration. Car in fact drives pretty smooth. Oh and both rear wheel bearing replaced during replacement of brake pads. It's just the burning smell that I took notice of the wheel. Just to add on. The tyre is still touchable when parked. I probably monitor a few more days and see a mechanic if necessary. Thanks again.
SiLangKia Supersonic November 6, 2016 Share November 6, 2016 Don't quite understand what you are saying. But if the car already renewed COE 5 years then it's 5 years. period. I think what he meant was those ads where dealers advertise with a 5 year coe renewal price, but also offer a 10 year renewal price option. Iirc, most dealers, at point of putting up the ad, have yet to renew the coe so they are able to give that option (except for some cases where they have alr renewed when putting up the car for sale). From what I know(spoke to a few dealers when we bought a 2nd hand car recently), most dealers only renew upon sale date or upon expiry date (usually they have a buffer of approx 2 weeks to a month or more before original coe expires when they put up the ad). They may even , in some cases renew after expiry as there is a 1 month buffer after expiry to renew, albeit with a late fee (was it $150 I can't quite remember exactly), and usually if the advertised cars past the expiry and can't be sold then they are scrapped/exported Dealers would definitely try to sell certain popular models as renewed coe cars as they stand to make more compared to if they were to just take in and scrap/export. Cheers :)

Dealers will not renew until a buyer buys the coe cars. otherwise they will be keeping stocks that nobody buys, logically they do business in this way. what is advertised is only say 5 yrs, actually there is option to renew 10 yrs.

If it does probably maybe a brake jamDrove home this morning from airport after being away for few days. The rim is much hotter than the rest. I guess it's really the caliper. Time to visit mechanic. Hopefully just servicing and not changing the whole thing. Thanks again.
