'Unusually warm' weather may become the norm in Singapore

If this holds true, this climate change will inevitably effect everyone, not just for those whose daily activities that depend on the weather condition.

With the average maximum daily temperature predicted to reach 34.9 to 36.7 deg C from current 31.8 deg C, this will means more demand for powering air conditioners, higher health risk, longer dry spells, increased bush fires and yes, the chocking smog/haze/smoke from the resulting burning.

This will drive people indoor for longer period and increase water usage, exacerbating the situation by reducing our adaptability in a hotter and dryer Garden City.

The world is becoming hotter and dryer, then extreme wet weather. Thanks to climate change caused by us using fossil fuels.

Sad, but i don't see it being reversible.

We are lucky we aren't a farming nation. But it does mean food, electricity, water will become even more expensive in the future.

In a way, our govt's lack of any subsidies for this items is a good thing.

Since we are accustomed to paying through our teeth lol...

This is not a new thing and concerns have been raised for years. But of course alot of people are like "global warming is rubbish".

Higher temps means girls wear less.

My concern is the projected reduction in farmland on a worldwide level. Worst-case scenarios are projecting food shortages that will not allow us to sustain our present global population.

Turbocharged

population increases

-> Co2 increases

-> hotter

-> more aircon required

-> more energy required

-> more Co2 produced

-> even hotter

and so it goes on.....

we are on the drug called cheap fossil fuel energy. And we don't want to wean ourselves off.

Can't blame the less developed countries, they still have large parts of their population in poverty.

Only the more well off countries can bother...

The concern has more do to with our children and the future gen.

They will be the one who are going to live that world, which IMHO, is only going to accelerate.

Mother nature has Her way to give nasty surprises when we are lease expecting.

One moment sky will be pouring buckets in AMK Ave 3 but will be blazing hot at Ave 1 less than a km away..

And if we are to assume our live style will remain unaffected and carry on business as usual, we will be doing disservice to our next gen.

Yesterday whilst driving, heard over radio talk that the average temperature of the world had increased from 26.4 to 27.6 degrees ...... [sweatdrop]

Earth is getting warmer .... :wacko:

If its continue for another year or so, the polar ice caps (North & South) will be melting causing wide spread flood ponding... :o

Is it feasible to build a dome around SIngapore and aircondition it like the garden by the bay one ? Just thinking out of the box.

It is possible if we build some nuclear plants in southern islands.Changi Airport can shift to Pulau Tekong with no drome.

Quite exciting isn't it that we no longer need house conditioners. [:p]

Time to wear less clothes liao :))

Or maybe time for companies to design clothes that are thinner, lighter and easier to evaporate the sweat away :))
