Symbol looks like an engine block

Recommended Posts

Hi bros,

Need your feedback and advise.

Recently, saw this symbol looks like an engine block appear on my instrument display.

Look in the manual and it says " sent car to Toyota dealer"

What exactly this symbol mean and is it a major problem to the car? I have not sent my car for

checking yet.

Have a nice day ahead.

Commonly known as CEL "Check Engine Light"

Can be many reasons but get it check as soon as possible.

Many workshops have an engine diagnostic tool to find out what is exactly wrong.

Good luck

Like what the above forumer say, it's "check engine light". Mean the engine detected a fault in the system, what you can do is to disconnect and reconnect your battery aka "reset" the ECU memory and see if the fault came back or one off fault.

If it came back, you can use a scan gauge tool to scan see what's the problem and get it repair, most likely it's O2 sensor problem.

If it is O2 sensor, just get the wires rewired. Common prob

If engine is there, there won't be any light. Only when it was missing then the light is on :D

It means engine damaged. Someone shot you in the engine. Click the repair kit to return engine to original condition.

Sorry, played too much WoT. -_-

my friend told me the light is to tell you that there is suspicion of engine being stolen thats why the "check engine light" is shown to tell you to ensure your engine is still in engine bay leh. [smash][smash]

ECU detected a fault. Workshop has the tool to diagnose the fault.

The last time I encounter this, i send to workshop and the fault diagnosed was engine misfiring.

End up I have to change all the spark plugs

Exactly what my engine suffered several months ago on the way back from Genting.

Usually manual would advise to drive/"limp" at slower pace to workshop, since there is something not right with the engine.

Normally, Japenis cars no problem one, can still drive around for few days if no time to send to Toyota, Honda, etc. I drove Honda Steam with CEL light on in Japan for one week also no problem. :D No steam come out also.

Japanese cars also do not warn its drivers of a lot of issues too...I noticed. Save cost on sensors.
