A) There is no more discount for OPC when doing COE renewal, so do convert your OPC to black plate 1-2 weeks before you do COE renewal.

B) Yes.

A) yes, I understand have to pay full prevailing COE, but to convert before first 10years over., I still have to pay pro rated of $17k. Means, if I convert after renew of COE, I don't have to pay anything at all but just the admin fee? Or I can't even convert after renew the COE?

B) so the car will be auto de-register after renewal of COE for 10years is not true la?

Only if you renew COE for 5 years , then u cannot renew again after 5 years end., right?

A) 1 week pro-rated of 17k is $17000 / 520 x 1 = $32. Add admin fees ($100) and road tax and insurance, should be less than $200.

FYI from LTA website (http://www.lta.gov.sg/content/ltaweb/en/roads-and-motoring/transport-options-for-motorists/revised-off-peak-car-and-opc-and-weekend-car.html#12). There's a chance you gotta top up another 17k if you want to convert your OPC to black plate after renewal.

HOW DO I RENEW THE COE OF MY WEC, OPC OR ROPC?

Pay the Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP) of the appropriate normal car category. Your car will remain as a WEC, OPC or ROPC after the COE renewal.

B) Yes again. You can keep on renewing if you renew for 10 years each time. 5 years renewal only once.

Wah. Pay the full coe and remain an opc? Like that might as well convert first?

I have called and confirmed with LTA, after COE expired, and upon renewal of COE, you can choose to remain as OPC or convert to normal car without having to payback any OPC rebate. Just pay the conversion fee and road tax differences.....and also differences in insurance coverage premiums, if any.

What is the advantage of remaining as opc if already paid full price? Want to stand out among the crowd?

Frankly speaking, after renewing of COE, it is better to convert OPC to normal car as the savings from Insurance and Road Tax may be too little as compare to the daily rate licence if you intend to drive on normal day.

Road tax discount for OPC is only $500 a year, and insurance is maybe another $500 difference? That's 50 days of e-licence. If I were you I would convert to black plate so I have more flexibility. Did you check what happens if you renew COE and keep it as OPC, then maybe 1 month later you change your mind later on and decide to convert to black plate?

Scrap the car & get new OPC car will be better option.... you continue to enjoy the $17k rebate.

Moreover new car comes with warranty and better feature and prolly give better FC mileage

Also considering the upfront payment of the prevailing COE amount about $63k plus (assuming Cat A)

New car I can get loan & restructure my installment payment over 2~3 years (assuming minimum loan amount).
