Either CNA misquoted him or LHL has no idea what he is talking about with his foot in the mouth:

 

On one hand, he heap praises on US from being "most open market in the world", to being the “engine” of free trade and stating the "the world will be  missing out on a huge opportunity" when US withdraw from TPP.

 

Then on another made a thinly veil mistrust on China's 1B1R with the reference to a “New World” where there is “no country which is the middle kingdom...” ?

 

WTF ? What kind of signal is he sending again ?

Hasn't he done enough damage for Singapore in a recent diplomatic snafu with Beijing over SCS ?
