just sharing my exp after brief test drive last week -

- ride is reasonably comfortable on 15" alloys (test drive being standard model) do note turning radius is different for 15" & 16"; one at 5.3m & another 5.7m respectively

- if ladder chassis means riding on stilts, then i believe sienta is not this type, but it is 25mm higher than jdm sienta

- not sure what steering sienta was on, but didnt feel like i gotta turn alot; typical toyota car character - easy to handle

- current sienta on cvt wc i believe at 100kph will be around 2k rpm (even my current korean 4at "only" 2.5k rpm at 100kph)

avanza is one very backward tech model based on tractor / pickup.. bm should have nvr brought in this model. if i own avanza sure very hard to sell due to a backward model wc prev cost 120k at high coe era..

since on this topic of steering , just sharing..

ok back to sienta

The Sienta chassis is 100% car based, although I couldnt quite tell from which mainstream Toyota model. Could be the current Vios/Yaris

The increased ride height was needed to clear the often neglected road conditions of Indonesia. The JDM Sienta would prob get stuck in many of their deep potholed roads LOL

But I think any Sienta owners can undo the ride height changes quite easily. Toyota may had just used spacers to prop up the front and rear suspension parts... If we can just remove these spacers...

Noob question but why would u want to lower the car? I can only think it gives better stability n handling esp at corners? But this is an MPV afterall which is taller so I don't think it makes much difference? Edited by Spring

Yup, you are correct there...

To add on

-  A lowered car will always look much better than  one whose tire to fender gap is so large that a cat can climb in and sleep...

-  A lowered stance will make the wheels looked bigger to a certain degree

-  A better chance to pick up SYTs

-  Becos you are an ah beng [laugh]

I'm past the age of wanting a lowered ride, not to mention the impracticality when on bumpier roads. lol I'm thinking of downsizing to 15" alloys with slight thicker rubber if next bigger size. Cos now I appreciate SUV height clearance a lot.

update on my observations of diff between ad n pi sienta -

- the obvious being 2NR-FE vs 2NR-FKE (latter being atkinson iirc)

- another obvious being front dash design

- third obvious being color choice (e.g. super white vs pearl white)

- front driver no armrest vs 1 armrest for driver

- floor shift w handbrake vs dash shift w footbrake

- 4 disc vs 2 disc + 2 drum (a bro mentioned pi oso have 4 disc) brakes

- no footrest vs carpet shaped "footrest"

- 2nd row seat traversing distance 5-6cm vs 8-9cm

- less 3rd row legroom vs more (somehow oso felt more headroom for pi one at 3rd row)

- higher ground clearance vs lower

- 3 airbags vs 2

Based on some mentioning that the ride height (ground clearance) of Indonesia made Sienta is higher than JDM, from the brochure I got from Borneo Motors, either it is printed wrongly or sg specs Sienta actually set the same clearance as JDM model at 155mm. Whereas in Indonesia or Msia, their clearance is at 170mm range. I won't be surprised that sg specs Sienta have the same ground clearance as JDM model because our road conditions are good hence do not need the higher clearance.

Classic example is Toyota Estima (PI) vs Toyota Previa (from Agent).

Look at the rear, try park side by side.

The Previa rear is higher, Estima lower, nothing to do with sports version (Aeras or non Aeras).

For these cars, Estima look and handle better.

SE updated me on sienta elegance 110k vs wish 111k (but dunno elegance / classic)..

if not desiring more head room, "modern" design, LED lamps n higher tech display / HU, more rational / practical to opt for wish for more airbags, better performance, more space n better ergo / seating comfort.

Both hybrid 1NZ-FXE & petrol 2NR-FKE engines are using Atkinson cycle.

Just a quick check - anyone got the bm sienta, though I think most / all should've booked wish at with such pricing.

Neither.. if u are looking at cost saving, get PI Sienta, rather than Wish..

More and more Uber Sienta on the roads. Can the PI Sienta really hit close to 20km/L?

Sienta hybrid can reach average 20km/l. Sienta fuel is about 15
