Blackvue beware!

I installed my 2-channel in October last year.

The unit either shut itself off during very hot weather like these days OR worst

render my car battery flat if you ON the unit at the Power Magic. Able to us 64 GB but may go haywire at times! Installer suggest JUST 32 GB!

That is, it is just good when driving AND NO GOOD for parking mode (just 3-4 hours before it flattened your car battery!!)

Yes! I went back to the installer who is now suggesting a replacement of power magic for another ADDITIONAL $388 (beautiful number isn't it??) battery pack (batteries similar to handphone) just to power Blackvue.

Yes! Both power magic and Blackvue has a "one year warranty" and the installer claimed that they no more install power magic AND most "small" car owner come back to install their $388 battery pack!

Isn't this falling under the Lemon Law?

So, people, don't simply think that a Made-in-Korea product is good judging by its video output. Careful of who your installer are!

for $388 probably the installer installed the Cellink in your car. The Cellink does not interfere with your car battery.

I don't think the issue lies with Blackview. Most advance car cams have built-in protection circuitry that prevents it from overheating (even my iPhone shuts down by itself when I use it as a GPS device on hot days). 64GB micro SD cards... some are compatible some are not, so far my Transcend has been serving me well for the past 3 months.

I got my DR650 + Cellink since March this year, no issue so far.

Using DR750LW + Samsung Evo 128GB MicroSD, self installed(wire to fusebox), and no cellink nor power magic pro since DR750LW has the protection built in.
No issues so far with battery flat even with parking mode running normally.

Is there one camera no matter what make, which stands head and shoulders above the others.

The more I read on MCF the more confused I become.

Also need to get installer to do the work.

It maybe the retailer's incompetent or probably the lesser favoured models which are prone to over heating. Still... there are no useful information here unless TS spill out more info.Otherwise this is just blind bashing of Blackvue.

I am not a Blackvue user and also not affliated to them but I feel that proper information must be given with every review good or bad.

I read with a pinch of salt. Most problem occur due to the micro SD card. Usually by clearing the files or doing a format will solve the issue. Shutting down itself might be due to the file being corrupt and prevent the device from recording further.

If you are parking under the sun directly you can always switch your aircon mode to "outside air" before switching off the ignition so that heat can escape. Or if you have installed windows wind deflectors you may open the windows a little to let heat escape.

It's also the owner's responsibility to take care of his own possession. To put the blame solely on the product w/o finding out the root of the issue... the action speaks for itself.

I agree, "bashing" a product without specification does not do justice to the product.

Auto shutdown can be caused by many different factors: -

1. There is no solar film and with the change in climate, the average car temperature tends to be higher

2. The blackvue product as one mentioned may be of earlier specs with lower heat tolerant

3. The high heat could have caused the internal battery (if there is any) to be damaged thus unit auto shuts down

And power magic pro IS NOT a spare battery pack, it is only to prevent car battery from draining... If the settings are not done correctly, IT WILL still DRAIN the car battery. And if the sensor in the power magic pro is overheated and burnt, IT WILL still DRAIN the car battery.

$388 I guess it will be the Cellink or Anypower which IS A BATTERY PACK... The car battery will only be used to charge up the UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). If car battery drained is a concern then one should not even connect car cam or UPS to the car battery.

And for warranty, it would always be the product lifespan only... if the workshop or retail store doesn't carry the product anymore, the consumer can choose to replace the product with another but have to top-up the difference.

Whatever it is, I would advocate doing research before purchase. I personally tested at least 5 car cam before ending up with my current one which had served me for more than 2 years and only need to change it's internal battery once due to overheated and burnt.

Whether blackvue is good I don't know as never tried before but I would say it's over-priced.

i am having problems with my DR750 2ch as well.

i normally park underground or in multi-story car parks, so heat from open air parking is usually not an issue for me.

but the first and only time i parked at East Cost park during lunch, under the shade of a tree, the blackvue gave me problems and kept shutting down and restarting.

my car has solar film installed, and i had also placed sunshades to protect the car. When i went into the car, it was not too hot, and i could sit inside directly.

however the camera still got screwed up.... of course it recovered after resting for some time and worked again at night.... but for a car dash cam, and one of blackvue's latest models, I would have expected better heat resistance.

my other problem was that the blackvue does not auto-start when i switch the engine on.

too bad i bought one of the Qoo10 deals, and have no local warranty recourse...

on the other hand, my SJ4000 wifi, a china gopro clone has carried on working 24/7 everyday since i installed it 3 months ago.

hehe i have changed the micro SD card from the original Blackvue SD card provided to a samsung 32gb evo card. lets see if the camera can last for my next open air carpark lunch outing.

Which class of microSD may have effect. Use at least class10 as each file size to write and save is huge. Maybe it'll help?

all my cards are class 10, i even have cards that are 4k ready, too fast for the blackvue to handle.
