With respect, I feel the President's salary should be reduced substantially from annually 3 million to lower. After all there are so much perks and his job is much easier than most of ours.

Nathan was perm sec or something.

i don't think TCB would qualify? he was only a doc and MP nia. doubt his clinic clocked 100 M per year? lol

i was actually thinking Ngiam Tong Dow.

he definitely qualifies. and he's not afraid to speak his mind.

any one that can call the PM of Singapore " Hsien Loong" in an interview definitely earns my vote. lol

TCB was a ex-PAP MP.... He was non-executive chairman of Chuan Hup holdings. Current market cap is almost 300 mil SGD. It's a little on the grey area since we all know non-executive chairmen usually do butt shit. He was also chairman of Dredging International Asia - not too sure what their paid up capital is but it could still be quite substantial.

Judging from GE2015, think TT will continue as President Elect, if not it will be Lau Goh or Lim Boon Heng.

We need to reward PAP for all the policy shifts and make sure they continue to reform Singapore and bring us to greater heights.... 万岁万岁万万岁!

Sharing another GE2015 post mortem article.

Thot it should b NAIR. he wrote a book, radio keep toking bout it. In bookstore its near/beside lky books. He on radio 91.3 in the morning.

Iirc, in an interview, he said something to extend of he wont say he rejs the idea of being the next pres.

Also this position needs foreign affairs exp. With the optimistic outlook of the people NAIR may have a good chance.

Though i will vote TCB. That is if he stands. I cannot forget the 2009 agreement till the onset of Alzheimer's.

Actually, it's always puzzled me why people keep supporting George Yeo for Elected President, almost to the point of idolisation. BTW, I've actually met the guy. He is definitely bright and able, but he's never impressed me as a person who's made a strong stand on principle - e.g. he was the first one to propose the building of the casinos in SG (and then opposed it later, by which time he was a lone voice in the wilderness); also, he was the one who designed the MDA blocks on the Internet, shortly after the gahmen assured a visiting Bill Gates that SG wouldn't practice Internet censorship.

When he lost Aljunied, he not only resigned from the party, but relocated to HK. Which is why I came up with the meme below: GY is the new NAIR. :D

In other words, GY is like the best of the current crop of MIW - an able technocrat, but not made of any special moral fibre. Remember what the role of the EP is supposed to be about: to be a hawk watching the reserves, and even challenging the gahmen when need be. What, in GY's political history, has really convinced people that he's the right person to do this?

Thanks for the reminder.🍺🚬🚬🚬

Guilty as charged although I can't understand why the post should be deleted given it is a logical extrapolation of 9/11 (And I have not actually posted much since GE2015, mind you). But if such is the position of the mods, they should just ban political threads in MCF outright. I personally don't fancy this sort of arbitrary censorship. But then, what do I know, I am just a peasant.

Please lah. After Ong Teng Cheong, do you think the Govt will allow an outspoken non-conformist to be President? Already the requirements are rigged to ensure only a selected chosen few are eligible. I'm sure this is for a reason, so the chances of getting another OTC is almost little to none.

Look at Nathan and Tony. What have they done during their presidential terms that has really questioned the Govt? Tony has done virtually nothing so far.

I suspect PAP will allow Tony to continue for another six year term next election.

"This is a very serious charge. You must be able to back it up!" - Tony Tan. :D
